ARMOUR OF GOD

In his letter to the church at Ephesus Paul points to her high responsibility, her special place in the plan of God. She has been called to victorious life in her risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, victorious life in the spiritual warfare against invisible and perilous powers of Satan, continuously opposing her on her way to perfection.

eason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee
before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy
sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy
traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it
shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the
sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the
people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never
shalt thou be any more' (Ezekiel28 : 14-19).
' How art thou fallen from heaven, 0 Lucifer, son of the
morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken
the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into
heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will sit also
upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will
ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit' (Isa.
Lucifer was repudiated by God from His immediate presence,
personal creation of God. He created them to praise His name, and
they were His attendant spirits around His throne.
Monarchs were placed above them - princes are thus named -
archangels. The most beautiful of them all was the 'Son of the
morning', 'Son of dawn', 'Morning star' (in Latin, 'Lucifer'). He was
the head of the cherubs, a denomination amongst the angels. The
Bible calls him ' the covering cherub', and another translation 'the
protecting cherub'. Because of his rebellion against God, he was cast
upon the earth, 'to the sides of the pit', and changed from the
brightest, most beautiful of all the angels into the darkest of all devils,
becoming the king of darkness, monarch of the night His disqualification
was complete.
When he had fallen from heaven, he took some angels with
him, whom he made HIS angels. 'And the great dragon was cast out,
that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the
whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast
out with him' (Rev. 12: 9). He dragged a third of the angels to the
earth with him, and those are the fallen angels, the demons, evil
