ARMOUR OF GOD

In his letter to the church at Ephesus Paul points to her high responsibility, her special place in the plan of God. She has been called to victorious life in her risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, victorious life in the spiritual warfare against invisible and perilous powers of Satan, continuously opposing her on her way to perfection.

carries on existing. These are the affairs of His kingdom. These
everlasting words always cause something to happen in the universe.
The forces of nature listen, and free themselves, and get into action
to prove these words. 'The mouth of a righteous man is a well oflife!'
(Proverbs 10: 11).
God does so love us to speak in faith, because this speaking
concurs with His speaking! The devils take to their heels when they
hear it We have full authority in our mouths.
Elijah said: 'There shall not be dew nor rain these years, but
according to my word' (1 Kings 17 : 1). He uttered that command to
the elements, and it happened just as he said - no rain fell for three
and a half years. He knew who he was, in his God, and acted
accordingly! King Joshua pointed his finger at the sun and addressed
her, commanding her to stand still, and she stood still. He did the
same with the moon. He did not discuss it with God, so that God
would keep her still, but he uttered the command with authority, and
it happened, for twenty-four hours. 'And he said: Sun, stand thou
still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the
sun stood still, and the moon stayed' (Joshua 10: 12-13).
These were not supermen with exceptionally great faith, but
ordinary people. The Bible says ofElijah: 'Elijah was a man subject
to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not
rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six
months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the
earth brought forth her fruit' (James 5: 17). Elijah employed the
word of conquest, and this word possessed Divine power. It is the
basic principle of the Divine nature that His words have creative
power (John 1 : 3). 'I have given unto you power over the entire
army of the enemy.' We believe in this and vouch for these words.
Paul understood something of this: 'For this cause also thank
we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God
which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but, as it
is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you
that believe' (1 Thess. 2 : 13). Worketh! The word never fails to
work for those who accept it as such!
The word in the mouth of a manifested son of God (Romans
8: 19) is positive, and acts like a double-edged sword, from which
