ARMOUR OF GOD

In his letter to the church at Ephesus Paul points to her high responsibility, her special place in the plan of God. She has been called to victorious life in her risen Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, victorious life in the spiritual warfare against invisible and perilous powers of Satan, continuously opposing her on her way to perfection.

The mother was alone at home and opened the door, and the
man came crawling out of the cupboard, without even the strength to
stand up. 'He looked terrible, with a deathly pale complexion, and a
long beard and hair, his eyes blinking in the light He looked more
like a neglected animal than a person, and I got such a fright I
hoisted him on to a chair and talked to him. He said that he did not
want to stay in the cupboard any more. I told him that I had been
going to meetings, in the evening, where a foreign preacher spoke,
and prayed with the sick, and invited him to go along with me. At
first, he did not want to, but when my other son came home, he
decided to go, being half-carried. We dressed him and combed his
hair as best we could, and then ordered a taxi which took us to the
hall, where we sat right at the back.
'When the singing started up, very gaily, with drums and
tambourines, it became too much for Satsu. He couldn't bear all that
noise, but we held on to him tightly. After the meeting, you walked
into the hall and approached my son. You did not know him, and
stood in front of him. Then you laid your hands upon him and
commanded the powers of Satan to leave him immediately. And that
happened, too, the very same evening. Satsu became calm and
amenable. The next day, he quietly allowed himself to be taken to
the hospital, where he was cleaned up and his body regained its
strength. The doctors at the Shiranui hospital had never seen
anything like it, and were amazed that such a thing was possible -
that this deadly timid and tormented spirit was quite normal, and no
one could have been friendlier and more compliant than Satsu.
There was nothing more of his afllictions to be discovered.'
I visited him and couldn't believe my eyes. Satsu is cheerful,
and laughs, and is sociable; a different person. He is now home, and
he asked to be baptized, and goes to church. He is going to start
working again, and wants to get married, like everyone else. This is
Jesus' doing. Hallelujah! This unapproachability was broken through
by the cloth over which prayers were said, and it healed the spiritually
vexed, just as in the book of Acts.
Attempts, by a rational theology, to seek a scientific explanation
for the supernatural acts of God will continually fail, as this
causes God's Word to be hollowed out God employs many
wonderful ways, which may seem foolish to some, but which are
effective in practice. Thus, cloths can be turned into God's
messengers of His seeking love, to the credit of His Name. Faith can
never expect too much!
