As one of the newest members of the LS engine family, the LS3 6.2L<br />
engine has benef<strong>it</strong>ed from all of the forward-thinking technology that has<br />
kept this engine series at the forefront of modern performance. It was<br />
introduced on the 2007 Corvette and debuts in 2009 in the all-new Camaro.<br />
The GM Performance Parts LS3 6.2L crate engine is based on the Corvette<br />
application, including the oil pan. It <strong>com</strong>es <strong>com</strong>plete w<strong>it</strong>h the ign<strong>it</strong>ion system,<br />
manifold assembly w<strong>it</strong>h injectors and throttle body, exhaust manifolds, water<br />
pump, balancer and 14-inch automatic-transmission flexplate.<br />
Inside, the LS3 is filled w<strong>it</strong>h <strong>com</strong>ponents designed for high performance<br />
and longev<strong>it</strong>y. The aluminum block is filled w<strong>it</strong>h a sturdy reciprocating<br />
assembly that <strong>com</strong>bines w<strong>it</strong>h L92-type rectangular-port heads to deliver<br />
a 10.7:1 <strong>com</strong>pression ratio. A high-lift, hydraulic roller camshaft delivers a<br />
whopping 0.551-inch of lift on the 2.165-inch intake valves and 0.522-inch lift<br />
on the 1.59-inch exhaust valves. It holds those valves open for 204-degrees<br />
of rotation (intake) and 211-degrees (exhaust), respectively, enhancing the<br />
LS3’s tremendous airflow and table-flat torque curve.<br />
