CRATE ENGINES LSX SERIES
The Extreme-Performance Branch of the LS Family Tree
A couple of years ago, GM Performance Parts introduced the
LSX Bowtie cylinder block. Based on the basic design of GM’s
modern LS family of V-8 engines, it was designed to give
builders an economical yet exceptionally strong foundation
on which to build extreme-performance engines.
But the LSX block was just the beginning. Our engineers have
been busy developing high-performance engine combinations;
and for 2009 GM Performance Parts is proud to introduce the
first two LSX crate engines—the LSX376 and LSX454.
The LSX376 uses the LSX Bowtie block, new LSX forged
pistons and combines them with the heads and other components
of the LS3 engine for an affordable power house. The
LSX454 is a modern interpretation of a classic combination
that over-delivers on the promise of its Big-Block displacement.
These new crate engines offer great performance and
value, but our engineers are just getting started with LSX
performance.
