".Monday, June 14th: Crossed ano<strong>the</strong>r mountain <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> Winter's<br />

Toad. Came eighteen miles today and camped at Pitt River. Did<br />

not start 'till late this morning on account <strong>of</strong> a sick horse. Huntleys<br />

left us a11d went on ahead.<br />

"Tuesday, June 15th: Came on to Fall City and stopped for diul1er.<br />

Then drove on eighteen miles to Pittsville and camped for <strong>the</strong><br />

11ight.<br />

"'Vednesday, June 16th: Came on over <strong>the</strong> mountains and camped<br />

in <strong>the</strong> foothills in <strong>the</strong> edge <strong>of</strong> Big Valley. Made 16 or 17 miles today.<br />

"Thursday, June 17th: Came on again about 12 miles over very<br />

Tough roads most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> way and camped near <strong>the</strong> timber .<br />

'Vednesday, .June 23rd: Forded Lost River, bridge gone. Ate dinner<br />

at <strong>the</strong> Hot Springs near Linkville and drove on to Klamath Lake.<br />

Made 24 miles today. Drove around Modok point after dark, in <strong>the</strong><br />

water, over rocks and boulders, big as hay stacks.<br />

"Thursday, June 24th: Drove fourteen miles and camped. Ate<br />

dinner on <strong>the</strong> Reservation. Indians wanted pay for grass <strong>the</strong> horses<br />

ate at <strong>the</strong> Kalamath Indian Agency. Got some repairs made on <strong>the</strong><br />

wagon <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> Agency blacksmith .<br />

"Saturday, .July 17th: Came through Centerville, Weston and<br />

Milton, and camped on <strong>the</strong> Walla Walla river six or seven miles from<br />

"Valla 'Valla. Very•<br />

hot wea<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

"Sunday, July 18th: Drove into Walla Walla and camped just out<br />

<strong>of</strong> town.<br />

"~londa~', .July 19th: Drove six miles and camped on Dry Creek.<br />

Drove 20 miles and camped four miles from<br />

"'Vednesday, July 21st: Drove on to Dayton, bought provisions and<br />

drove to Mareng'o and camped.<br />

"Thursday, .July 22nd: Drove on to Pomeroy and stopped for dinner.<br />

Drove on through Pataha City and camped on Pataha Creek.<br />

" Friday, July 23rd: Crossed Alpowai Creek and over <strong>the</strong> Alpowai<br />

toll road. Broke an axle and stopped at Freeman's place and repaired<br />

it. Grasshoppers are eating everything here. Have attacked <strong>the</strong> fruit<br />

011 <strong>the</strong> trees.<br />

"Saturday, July 24th: Started again and drove to sheep ranch near<br />

Lewiston Flat and camped.<br />
