Effects<br />
The <str<strong>on</strong>g>D32XD</str<strong>on</strong>g>/<str<strong>on</strong>g>D16XD</str<strong>on</strong>g> provides up to twenty-four [*eight] insert<br />
effects that you can insert into mixer channels, up to two<br />
master effects that can process <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> sends from each channel,<br />
and <strong>on</strong>e final effect to process <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> master bus.<br />
The <str<strong>on</strong>g>D32XD</str<strong>on</strong>g> provides two effect routes; “Routing A” and<br />
“Routing B.”<br />
“Routing A” c<strong>on</strong>sists of insert effects 1–8, master effects 1<br />
and 2, and a final effect.<br />
“Routing B” c<strong>on</strong>sists of insert effects 9–24.<br />
The <str<strong>on</strong>g>D16XD</str<strong>on</strong>g> provides <strong>on</strong>e route, c<strong>on</strong>sisting of insert effects 1–<br />
8, master effects 1 and 2, and a final effect.<br />
The number of simultaneously available effects will be different for<br />
a 96 kHz/24-bit s<strong>on</strong>g (→“How DSP power is allocated to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> effects”).<br />
Effect type and size<br />
There are two types of effect program: stereo and m<strong>on</strong>o.<br />
You can use ei<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r type of program as an insert effect, but<br />
m<strong>on</strong>o programs cannot be used as master effects or as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> final<br />
effect.<br />
Insert effect 8 cannot use a stereo effect program.<br />
Effect programs come in various different sizes. The size of<br />
an effect program will determine how much DSP power it<br />
uses. The total DSP power available for all of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> effects is divided<br />
up into 32 [*16] “blocks.” The number of blocks of DSP<br />
power used by an effect program is referred to as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Effect<br />
Size - size-1, size-2, etc. As an example, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> type of effect programs<br />
that can be used to provide 24 [*eight] simultaneous<br />
insert effects are called “size-1” programs. Relative to this,<br />
o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r more complex effect programs are categorized as “size-<br />
2” or “size-4” programs.<br />
The size of each effect program is shown by an ic<strong>on</strong> “ ” displayed<br />
at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> right of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> effect name.<br />

effect. There are 128 preset effect programs.<br />
Each effect program is c<strong>on</strong>structed from <strong>on</strong>e of 52 different<br />
effect algorithms.<br />
There are 128 user effect programs in which you can store<br />
your own edited settings, and 32 s<strong>on</strong>g effect programs for<br />
each s<strong>on</strong>g, in which you can store effect settings for that specific<br />
s<strong>on</strong>g.<br />
Each s<strong>on</strong>g can store its own 32 s<strong>on</strong>g effect programs.<br />
You cannot rewrite <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> preset effect programs. However, a preset<br />
effect can be recalled, edited and stored to a user program.<br />

You can use a total of up to 27 effects (<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> total of insert, master,<br />
and final effects). However, you are limited to simultaneously<br />
using no more than 16 effects within Routing A and no<br />
more than 16 effects within Routing B (if <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> s<strong>on</strong>g’s sampling<br />
frequency is 44.1 or 48 kHz). This means that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> available<br />
number of effects will depend <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> combinati<strong>on</strong> of effect<br />
sizes.<br />
There is enough DSP power to process “16 sizes-worth” of effect<br />
programs each for Routing A and Routing B. However<br />
for a 96 kHz/24-bit s<strong>on</strong>g, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> DSP power will process <strong>on</strong>ly “8<br />
sizes-worth” of effect programs for each routing.<br />
A total of eleven effects can be used within Routing A, and a<br />
total of sixteen within Routing B.<br />
A specific amount of DSP power is allocated to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> insert,<br />
master, and final effects, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> breakdown for each type of<br />
effect is shown in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> following table.<br />
