Sato et al. [62] use Acusolve TM CFD software based on the Galerkin/Least-<br />

Squares FE method to obtain temperature and velocity field data at various parameters<br />

for a self reacting FSW tool. An Eulerian (or ALE) framework is used. A visco-plastic<br />

model is used along with a slip-stick boundary condition at the shoulder. A schematic of<br />

the model mesh is shown below with increasing refinement with tool proximity.<br />
