PRESENTERS Bill Patterson Bill Patterson is a Senior Program Manager for PIRE in Calverton, Maryland, assigned to OJJDP’s Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center as a Law Enforcement Specialist. A retired State law enforcement officer from the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, Alcohol Law Enforcement Division, he has almost 30 years in the field of alcohol, tobacco, drug, and gambling enforcement. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Gordy Pehrson Gordy Pehrson has been the Minnesota EUDL grant coordinator since 2008. He has worked for the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (Office of Traffic Safety) since 1984. His current Traffic Safety Program areas include bicycle and pedestrian, teen drivers, and enforcement grants. Starrla Penick Starrla Penick is the National Director of Programs for MADD, leading the underage drinking prevention programs, including a new community and research-based parent program: Power of Parents, It’s Your Influence. Her experience spans from non-profit program management to curriculum and training development to educating and coaching parents and school counselors. She is a graduate of the University of North Texas, with a Master of Science degree in Development/Family Studies and a minor concentration in Research. Dianne Perukel Dianne Perukel oversees Michigan’s impaired-driving and underage-drinking programs for the Office of Highway Safety Planning. She has been the EUDL coordinator since 2002, and she is the recipient of the SPF-SIG Award for Excellence and the 2009 Preventionist of the Year Award. Scott Pestridge Scott Pestridge, with OJJDP for 10 years, is a State Representative State Relations and Assistance Division (SRAD). He is responsible for all activities initiated by SRAD with juvenile justice for six State agencies in Indiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota and Washington. His assists in the interpretation of agency statutes, regulations, and policies, and serves as the Federal resource concerning funding and other assistance. His master’s degree is from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. Stacy Potter Stacy Potter is a Certified Prevention Specialist and Program Director of ROCMND Area Prevention Resource Center in Vinita, OK. Stacy has been with ROCMND 16 years and works with communities to decrease underage drinking, tobacco, and drug use as well as abuse and misuse across the lifespan. These activities include arranging alcohol compliance checks, tobacco reward reminder visits, providing Responsible Beverage Service and Sales Training, and other education to the community. Steven Pre’tat Steve Pre’tat is a retired law enforcement officer, both from the U.S. Air Force and the Great Falls Police Department. PRESENTERS canine handler working in the U.S. Northwest region. He has been with EUDL for 11 years and is a Consultant for UDETC. Previously, he was Officer of the Year and received the National Leadership’s Law Enforcement Community Service Award. Michael Pryor Lt. Michael Pryor has worked for 31 years in law enforcement and currently commands the Tucson Police Department Gang Interdiction Section. He is an expert in UAD strategy development and has developed and taught workshops for police associations, Federal agencies, and local jurisdictions nationwide. He is a Consultant for PIRE, as a law enforcement trainer for the UDTC. He has worked extensively in his own community and assisted other agencies across the country with strategies related to UAD prevention and enforcement. Jack Radin Inspector John Radin, with the Long Beach Police Department for 28 years, oversees a department of 110 staff. The City of Long Beach has over 30 bars within 3.5 miles and is a popular destination for the young party crowd. Inspector Radin is the point of contact for everyone impacted by the bar patrons. As founder of the Long Beach Coalition, he is an advocate of environmental change and UAD prevention. He is a member of the 2010 NLC Leadership Institute Class. Salima Eucharist Elisara Reupena Salima Eucharist Elisara Reupena is the American Samoa EUDL Project Coordinator, where he is also a certified EUDL Responsible Beverage Service Training instructor. He served as a SPF SIG Fa’a Samoa Project Liaison Officer, Secretary of the Tualatai Taumafai County Drug Free Community Coalition, and is a SSF certified facilitator. He also serves as a member of the First Lady Mary Ann Tulafono’s Ta’ita’itama Underage Drinking Prevention Initiative executive board. Madison Retrosi Madison Retrosi is a junior at Dover High School and a 5-year member of Dover Youth to Youth. She is a member of the group’s Leadership Team and has extensive experience in presenting on alcohol abuse and underage drinking. She is also a community activist on that issue. Stephanie Retrosi Stephanie Retrosi is a prevention coordinator for the Dover, NH Police Department where she oversees the activities of Dover Youth to Youth. She is responsible for coaching students in the development of advocacy and activism skills, including public speaking and media development. RIO RIO is a live entertainment band that plays a variety of custom-arranged Latin, Jazz, and Top Variety hits. This premiere musical powerhouse features professional and experienced musicians, including band director Harry Rios who has performed with some of New Orleans’ top musicians, including “Deacon” John Moore, Juanita Brooks, and Al Hirt.
