PRESENTERS Casey Tinloy I am an Investigator in California ABC’s TRACE unit. I have been with the department for more than 6 years, and I have conducted numerous source investigations. John Underwood John Underwood is Director/ Founder of the American Athletic Institute and is a Human Performance Consultant for the U.S. Navy SEALS. He has coached or advised more than two dozen Olympians including World and Olympic Champions. He holds three International Olympic Solidarity diplomas for coaching and crusades for drug-free sports. His innovative program, “Life of an Athlete,” has gained international prominence. He has been a guest commentator for ABC Wide World of Sports for Olympic Drug Scandals. Judi Vining Judi Vining is the Coordinator of the Long Beach Medical Center’s Coalition to Prevent UAD, and the Community Coordinator for the Prevention First! NY SPF-SIG subgrant awarded to Long Beach Medical Center in 2011. She graduated magna cum laude from Adelphi University and is a CASAC-(g). She is a member of UDETC’s Class of 2010 Leadership Institute, is co-chair of the New York State Environmental Task Force, and is active in several other local groups. Kimberly Wagoner Dr. Kimberly Wagoner is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Social Sciences and Health Policy at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Her focus is on using community-based participatory research principles to design practice-informed interventions to prevent substance abuse among adolescents and young adults. Dr. Wagoner has extensive experience working with community coalitions and evaluating their efforts to address substance abuse in their respective communities. Jaci Walrath Jaci Walrath is the Project Director for the Sherman County Prevention Coalition. Ms. Walrath has spent many years inspiring youth to live up to their greatest potential. Through community networking and youth empowerment, she is striving to change political views and community norms. Lisa Walter Lisa Walter is the Chief of Police at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She has worked in a university setting for 19 years and has been a certified police officer for 25 years. Chief Walter was instrumental in creating the multiagency Dunn County Alcohol Task Force to increase enforcement options within the community. She is a member of various campus and community youth and alcohol coalitions. David Watts Appointed in 2001, W. David Watts is the fifth president of the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, TX. UT Permian Basin is a 4,000 student university with a combination of resident and commuter students, located in the West Texas ranch lands and oil fields. Previously serving as a vice president, dean and department chair at other universities, Dr. Watts is a sociologist specializing in drug and alcohol abuse preven- [28] [ ] underage drinking Spotlighting Community Solutions to
PRESENTERS tion. He has published on correlates of drug and alcohol abuse among youth, teachers, and university faculty. He has directed community drug abuse prevention programs, working closely with community coalitions as well as helping to establish and work with university drug and alcohol abuse prevention programs. As president, Watts has direct responsibility for his campus and has taken a number of steps to control underage drinking, using known research findings. Dr. Watts holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and English from UT Austin. Both his master’s and doctorate in sociology are from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Katie Weaks Katie Weaks is a therapist and regional trainer with the National Counseling Group, specializing in addiction, trauma, and at-risk families. Mrs. Weaks became involved with YADAPP in 1999 as a high school student where she attended the conference as a participant. She went on to become a Youth Leader, Junior Staff, and Conference Intern at YADAPP. Mrs. Weaks is responsible for overseeing Conference Intern training and leadership of Youth Staff. Heather Webb Dr. Heather K. Webb has been the Director of Student Standards at Eastern Illinois University since fall 2006. In this capacity, Dr. Webb oversees the daily operation of the Office of Student Standards, as well as long-term projects and educational initiatives. She is a graduate of Purdue University. Howaida M. Werfelli Howaida M. Werfelli, MPH, CHES, is the Assistant Director of Health Education and Administration, Coordinator of Women’s Resource Center, and Director of UTSA peer educators. She is the Director of the R.E.A.L. Alcohol Coalition, which was created through funding from the Department of Educations’ Grants for Coalitions to Prevent and Reduce Alcohol Abuse at Institutions of Higher Education. Willie Williams Willie Williams is the current Interim Police of Chief of the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police Deparment. He has worked with the Seminole Naiton since March 2008. Before becoming the Interim Chief of Police, he was appointed as a Captain. Adriannah Willis Adriannah Brooke Willis, age 13, is a 7th grade student at Foley Middle School in Berea, Kentucky. She was a part of the youth delegation who visited Frankfort, Kentucky, to speak with legislators regarding their sponsorship of a bill to properly tax alcopops. She was recently recognized for her participation in a public service announcement that won an Oscar for “People’s Choice Award” at the 2011 Keep it Real Video Awards Contest. Jim Wilson Lt. James M. Wilson has been in law enforcement for 19 years. As the Commander of Field Operations for the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission’s Division of <strong>Enforcement</strong>, he manages field enforcement, licensing, education, and outreach activities statewide.
