The Man, The
Prince and
The King
Submitted by Marie
Freeman Grace
The man burst into the
throne room and approached
the King. All
eyes turned to the angry
and distraught man.
Every person in the kingdom
knew not of the man’s
misfortunes, but the pain
and desperation on his
face told them there were.
What they did not know of
was how the man was being ruined. Jealousy and deceit
drove his enemies to mock him into oppression. He
faced an empty house, pockets, and a sore and parched
spirit. The poor man had sent petitions to the king, but
he heard nothing back. Much time and unanswered
petitions passed and he now stood in front of the King.
The King turned to the man but did not have time
to react as the man’s anger and confusion took over.
“I am losing everything. My friends have become my
enemies and have taken everything from me. They say,
‘Now we have victory over him!’ My mind is clouded and
my direction unsure. I have cried out to You many times
because have you not said that You would be there for
me when I cry out?! Why haven’t You answered my
pleas?! Have You forgotten me?” he nearly screamed.
In his anger he turned and left before he could see
a man step out to take his place. This man looked up
to the King and bowed.
“You have forgiven him, Father. This is the man of
whose petitions I have delivered to You.” the Prince
said to the King.
“The same I have acted upon.” the King stood as his
son approached Him. “Continue to be beside him as
his petitions are answered.” the King motioned to one of
His servants. “I have one more thing to do.” He smiled
and motioned for His servant to follow Him.
The man entered his empty house. His spirit was not
filled, and his anger not put out. Crumpling into tears
he fell asleep in a corner. The Prince watched over the
man until morning and went out into the town. The man
awoke to a loud bang on the door. He ran to answer it
and found the petitions he had sent nailed to his door
and a wagon with all that he had owned or had wished
to own. He looked around to see who had done this for
him. Just past the cart he saw the King’s guards taking
away his suppressors and loading their possessions
on the wagon before him. Sudden realization melted
his heart and he fell to his knees. His friends rejoiced
around him.
“The King has been with you!” they shouted. One
came and whispered in his ear. “We knew He would.
We sent our own petitions along with yours.”
This was too much for the man. He stumbled to his
feet and ran to the castle. The Prince met him at the
castle gate and escorted him in. Once the Prince saw
the King they both shared a smile and the King nodded
his approval. The Prince stepped back and let the man
approach the King.
Tears welled in the man’s eyes and he could not meet
the King’s eyes. Sorrowful shame and regret plagued
his heart. He fell to his knees as he mumbled, “I am
so sorry.” the man could feel the cold hard floor on his
forehead.
The King stood from His throne and descended the
steps to where the man lay bowed. “My Son has covered
everything for you.” The King kneeled down to the
man and lifted his face. “You asked, and now you have
received. I have blessed many people through you.”
The man embraced the King and thanked Him. Leaving
the castle, his heart was overjoyed and everything
set right.
“Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before
God’s throne where there is grace. There we can
receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.”
~Hebrews 4:16
In most movies a just king or hero of the film will
come and kneel down and help those at his feet back
on their feet. It is a perfect display of grace. We can
come to God with anything, by yelling or crying, and He
still kneels down and picks us up because He sees His
own Son, Jesus, within us and all that He has done for
us. Everything will work out in His perfect timing, just
be prepared to receive two-four times the amount you
expect, and that the people around you will be blessed.
