Mary Hoar Husted Scholarship
The Mary Hoar Husted Scholarship committee is
accepting applications from now until May 16th. This
scholarship is available to graduating seniors and
continuing education students who meet the following
criteria. Applicant must be entering the fi eld of
education with plans to teach academics in a private
or public school. In order to apply they must also live
in the township of Woodhull or be a descendent of a
Woodhull High School alumnus. For information or

Ellen M. Cary
Ellen M. Cary, 68, of William St. Addison,
passed away very suddenly on Thursday morning,
April 4, 2013 at Corning Hospital.
Born in Corning, Ellen was the daughter of
Laverne and Margaret Aumick Wilson.
A long time Corning Inc. employee, Ellen
worked in several positions within the company
and finished her career there as a polisher in
Steuben Glass. She was married to Ronald
“Jack” Cary who preceded her in death in
January 1989. Ellen and Jack were involved in
many social activities including being long time
members of the Twin Rivers CB Club, the Addison
Eagles Aerie and enjoyed league bowling.
She was also an avid Bingo player, enjoyed
watching Wheel of Fortune and was a talented
crotchetier, always making crocheted items for
her family and friends.
Besides her husband Jack, Ellen was predeceased
by her brother John Wilson.
Surviving are her sons, Tracy Fredericks Sr.
of Addison and Terry (Laura) Fredericks of
Syracuse, her daughter, Robin Fredericks (Don
Strope) of Addison, her grandchildren, Christina
Martinson, Tracy Fredericks Jr., Dylan Benjamin,
Corey Strope, Caili Strope, Dakota Strope,
Zachary Fredericks, Jayden Fredericks, Hannah
Fredericks and Hailey Fredericks, 5 great
grandchildren, her brothers, James Wilson of
Campbell, Rick (Sandy) Wilson of Lindley and
Ernest (Mary) Wilson of Addison, her sister,
Patricia McMillan of Muskogee, OK and several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends called on Sunday, April 7 from 1-3 and
6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral
Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral
services were conducted there on Monday at
11 AM with Rev, Michael Cook officiating.
Burial was in Baxter Cemetery, Town of Tuscarora.

Gertrude “Trudy” Hall
Gertrude “Trudy” Hall, age 74, who formerly
resided on Wall Street in Addison, NY, passed
away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Corning
Hospital. She was born on February 23,
1939, the daughter of Harold S. Turner who
predeceased her in 2004 and Mary D. Turner
who predeceased her in 1993.
Trudy and Dale W. Hall were married on October
10, 1959, he predeceased her in 2003. She
had an unsurpassed love for people and this
was exemplified by her ability to see the good
in everyone she met. A kindhearted person, the
door to her home was always open for whoever
needed to talk or might just need a friend. You
could have known her for many years or met her
moments ago, but either way, you could count
on a hug and a smile. Without a word, you would
know that if you needed anything, she would
be there for you unconditionally. She is loved
so much and will be missed by all who she has
touched. Trudy was a devoted Roman Catholic
and a communicant of St. Catherine’s Church
in Addison. She served on Parish Council years
ago, and was a member of the Saint Pius X of
the Secular Francis Order.
Trudy is survived by her 4 children who were
the love of her life: Samuel Hall of Addison,
Sarah (Don) Hall Green of El Paso, Texas, Shelia
(Jon) Hall Yuen of Albany, Dale F. (Kimberly)
Hall of Woodhull; 9 grandchildren: Connor Hall,
Timothy (Faith) Lloyd, Gretchen Lloyd, Melissa
Lloyd and fiancé Lewis Anderson, Mary Yuen,
Katelyn Hall, Aleasha Hall, Skylar Hall, Kyle
Harter; 2 great-grandchildren: Andrea Anderson
and Aiden Lloyd.
All were welcomed to join Gertrude’s family
at her visitation on Monday, April 1, 2013
from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00 PM at
Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall Street
in Addison. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated
at 11AM on Tuesday, Fr. Patrick Connor
officiating at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church,
51 Maple Street in Addison.
Trudy was laid to rest beside her husband in
St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Addison.
