Mary Hoar Husted Scholarship<br />

The Mary Hoar Husted Scholarship committee is<br />

accepting applications from now until May 16th. This<br />

scholarship is available to graduating seniors and<br />

continuing education students who meet the following<br />

criteria. Applicant must be entering the fi eld of<br />

education with plans to teach academics in a private<br />

or public school. In order to apply they must also live<br />

in the township of Woodhull or be a descendent of a<br />

Woodhull High School alumnus. For information or<br />

Ellen M. Cary<br />

Ellen M. Cary, 68, of William St. <strong>Addison</strong>,<br />

passed away very suddenly on Thursday morning,<br />

April 4, 2013 at Corning Hospital.<br />

Born in Corning, Ellen was the daughter of<br />

Laverne and Margaret Aumick Wilson.<br />

A long time Corning Inc. employee, Ellen<br />

worked in several positions within the company<br />

and finished her career there as a polisher in<br />

Steuben Glass. She was married to Ronald<br />

“Jack” Cary who preceded her in death in<br />

January 1989. Ellen and Jack were involved in<br />

many social activities including being long time<br />

members of the Twin Rivers CB Club, the <strong>Addison</strong><br />

Eagles Aerie and enjoyed league bowling.<br />

She was also an avid Bingo player, enjoyed<br />

watching Wheel of Fortune and was a talented<br />

crotchetier, always making crocheted items for<br />

her family and friends.<br />

Besides her husband Jack, Ellen was predeceased<br />

by her brother John Wilson.<br />

Surviving are her sons, Tracy Fredericks Sr.<br />

of <strong>Addison</strong> and Terry (Laura) Fredericks of<br />

Syracuse, her daughter, Robin Fredericks (Don<br />

Strope) of <strong>Addison</strong>, her grandchildren, Christina<br />

Martinson, Tracy Fredericks Jr., Dylan Benjamin,<br />

Corey Strope, Caili Strope, Dakota Strope,<br />

Zachary Fredericks, Jayden Fredericks, Hannah<br />

Fredericks and Hailey Fredericks, 5 great<br />

grandchildren, her brothers, James Wilson of<br />

Campbell, Rick (Sandy) Wilson of Lindley and<br />

Ernest (Mary) Wilson of <strong>Addison</strong>, her sister,<br />

Patricia McMillan of Muskogee, OK and several<br />

nieces, nephews and cousins.<br />

Friends called on Sunday, April 7 from 1-3 and<br />

6-8 PM at the H.P. Smith & Son Inc. Funeral<br />

Home, 1607 Main St. Woodhull, NY. Funeral<br />

services were conducted there on Monday at<br />

11 AM with Rev, Michael Cook officiating.<br />

Burial was in Baxter Cemetery, Town of Tuscarora.<br />

Gertrude “Trudy” Hall<br />

Gertrude “Trudy” Hall, age 74, who formerly<br />

resided on Wall Street in <strong>Addison</strong>, NY, passed<br />

away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Corning<br />

Hospital. She was born on February 23,<br />

1939, the daughter of Harold S. Turner who<br />

predeceased her in 2004 and Mary D. Turner<br />

who predeceased her in 1993.<br />

Trudy and Dale W. Hall were married on October<br />

10, 1959, he predeceased her in 2003. She<br />

had an unsurpassed love for people and this<br />

was exemplified by her ability to see the good<br />

in everyone she met. A kindhearted person, the<br />

door to her home was always open for whoever<br />

needed to talk or might just need a friend. You<br />

could have known her for many years or met her<br />

moments ago, but either way, you could count<br />

on a hug and a smile. Without a word, you would<br />

know that if you needed anything, she would<br />

be there for you unconditionally. She is loved<br />

so much and will be missed by all who she has<br />

touched. Trudy was a devoted Roman Catholic<br />

and a communicant of St. Catherine’s Church<br />

in <strong>Addison</strong>. She served on Parish Council years<br />

ago, and was a member of the Saint Pius X of<br />

the Secular Francis Order.<br />

Trudy is survived by her 4 children who were<br />

the love of her life: Samuel Hall of <strong>Addison</strong>,<br />

Sarah (Don) Hall Green of El Paso, Texas, Shelia<br />

(Jon) Hall Yuen of Albany, Dale F. (Kimberly)<br />

Hall of Woodhull; 9 grandchildren: Connor Hall,<br />

Timothy (Faith) Lloyd, Gretchen Lloyd, Melissa<br />

Lloyd and fiancé Lewis Anderson, Mary Yuen,<br />

Katelyn Hall, Aleasha Hall, Skylar Hall, Kyle<br />

Harter; 2 great-grandchildren: Andrea Anderson<br />

and Aiden Lloyd.<br />

All were welcomed to join Gertrude’s family<br />

at her visitation on Monday, April 1, 2013<br />

from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00 PM at<br />

Carpenter-Flint Funeral Home, 10 Wall Street<br />

in <strong>Addison</strong>. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated<br />

at 11AM on Tuesday, Fr. Patrick Connor<br />

officiating at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church,<br />

51 Maple Street in <strong>Addison</strong>.<br />

Trudy was laid to rest beside her husband in<br />

St. Catherine’s Cemetery, <strong>Addison</strong>.<br />
