C L A S S N O T E S Kensy Dowdy Thomas is co-owner of Maria’s LLC Restaurant in Bogalusa. She and husband Samuel Clay have two boys Samuel Clay (4) and Zachary (2). Amy Simmons is working for Postlethwaite & Netterville as a senior auditor. She recently traveled to Norway and the Netherlands on company business and is busy studying for her CPA exam. Amy also traveled to London for the Saints game – Go Saints! Orselda Young taught school for ten years and is now pursuing her doctorate degree in educational leadership. She aspires to become a principal in the future. 1994 Julie Ballard Clark and husband Jay live in Athens, Georgia with their son, Cole, (6) and daughter, Kinsey Grace, (2). She is the Director of Gymnastics Operations for the University of Georgia’s Gym Dogs Gymnastics team. Julie is a motivational speaker and has established Focus Solutions along with doing leadership training with other sports teams and business management. Kelly Carrington completed her second Ironman competition in Austria in July, 2008. She has run in four marathons, including Boston. Kelly works as a landman for Anadarko Petroleum in Denver. Christina Ramirez Allmer started on her masters degree in curriculum and instruction in September 2008. She and husband Jason are living in California with their two daughters Madelyn (5) and Gwendolyn (2). 1995 Jamie St. Romain Alford is living on the Northshore with her husband and working as a Case Manager with STARC in St. Tammany. She will be returning to UNO for alternate certification in special education. 1997 Virginia Allen is living in New Orleans and teaching second grade at Lusher Charter School. Melissa Byrne Ayers and husband Andrew are living in Houston, Texas. For the past year, Melissa has been a sales representative for Hanson Brick. She sells to homebuilders in her area and has been in the homebuilding industry for over six years. Gina Gallo graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2008 with a bachelor of arts degree in secondary education. Gina was on the Dean’s list all four years. She is teaching freshman academy, speech and theatre/drama at West St. Mary’s High School in Baldwin, LA. Sarah Muller graduated from Nicholls and joined Blue Runner Foods as General Manager of Administration. She is currently enrolled in the Tulane Executive MBA program. 1998 Stephanie Cory Morris was appointed associate attorney for Graydon Head and Ritchey LLP in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is part of the firm’s Litigation Client Service Department and focuses in the area of complex commercial litigation and antitrust matters. Prior to joining the firm, she was an associate in the Litigation and Appellate Sections of the New Orleans office of Chaffe McCall, LLP. Laura Kelley is living in Houston where she is working in IT sales for Solid IT Networks. Katie McDonald Windham is living in Hattiesburg, MS with husband Justin and two daughters, Juniper (3) and Mabel (2). Katie worked at Tulane University in the library system from 2002-2006. She moved to Mississippi and has been working as a collection specialist in the de Grummond Children’s Literature Collection at the University of Southern Mississippi. She has made a big career change into nursing and is in school at Jones County College. Jessica Plauche is living in Independence, LA. She is working in the Quality Management Department at Lallie Kemp Medical Center. 1999 Kathleen Gill Benefield is living in London with husband Kyle and son, Hoyer, born on February 18, 2009. She is working for Cancer Research UK on the innovative team in marketing, coming up with new fundraising ideas for the UK. Kathleen and Kyle joined Elaine Simmons for lunch at the Grosvenor Hotel in London and the Saints game at Wimberley Stadium. Jessica Paz Jones is working for Cancer Research UK in London. Jessica Tessier is living in Ontario and has applied to medical school. 2000 Natalie Landry is living in Waxahachie, TX and working on her masters in Children and Family Ministries. 2001 Robin Penzato Arnold took the Louisiana Bar Examination in July, 2008. Robin and husband Nick bought a home in Lakeview. 2002 Rachael Delahoussaye Shields is in her second year at Louisiana State University Medical School. Rachael was the chairperson of Camp Tiger, a summer camp for the benefit of disabled children, hosted by LSU med students. Whitney Bryan graduated with distinction from Cardiff University in Cardiff, Wales with a masters degree in international public relations. She is employed in London with an international public relations agency. Jennifer Griffis works with teenagers in Austin public high schools as a clinical counselor and coordinator of social services for Communities in Schools Central Texas, Inc. She also started a personal life coaching practice and founded the non-profit organization “Fired Up!” which is an after school young women’s empowerment program. Kimberly Price graduated from Parsons School of Design in May 2006. She is the head furniture and product designer for Loren Marsh Designs in New York City. Her mom Susan says, “Kimberly still embraces the same high ethics, morals and character that were nurtured in her at SSA.” 2003 Katie Pratt is currently in Culinary school at Delgado and working at ChristwoodRetirement Community in Covington. Elizabeth Turncliff was selected to exhibit her artwork at the Loyola University New Orleans Visual Arts Senior Exhibitions in April 2008. 2004 Ashley Cangelosi has been busy working as a national consultant for Chi Omega and part-time helping to launch a new product. Kristen Muller was selected to exhibit her photography at the Loyola University New Orleans Visual Arts Senior Exhibitions in April 2008. 2005 Maggie Kennedy is living and working in Paris. Melissa Ellis Maltese graduated from LSU in animal science and agricultural business. Melissa is applying to Baton Rouge General School of Nursing for Fall 2008. Adele Labrador is a junior at Our Lady of Holy Cross College, where she is earning a B.S. in radiologic technology. She will apply to the 12 D O V E W I N G S
adiologic program at Ochsner Hospital, which consists of 21 months of clinicals. Katelyn O’Neil completed her third year at Louisiana State University with a 3.85 GPA where she is studying pharmacy. Lauren Schneider finished her junior year at Fordham where she is majoring in theatre. 2006 Joie Campeaux is at Samford University where she is studying marketing with a concentration in management. She is involved in campus life and also a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Joie traveled to Honduras for a Mission trip in March 2008. Marissa Mederos attends LSU, was on the Dean’s list for Spring 2008 (3.8) and is a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She took the NET test in March 2008, started the LSU School of Nursing in New Orleans in Fall 2008 and did clinicals in Spring, 2009 2007 Katherine Couret, Nicole Fekete and Elise Taylor participatd in the Disney College Program Internship in Orlando, FL. Brittany Godfrey completed her second year at the University of LA at Monroe. Brittany kept busy with school and worked for the University’s intramurals and recreational section. She played intramural basketball and softball. Brittany thanks SSA for preparing her with a smooth transition into college. Melissa Landry was honored by Louisiana State University as LSU’s Outstanding Freshman for the 2007-08 school year. She was one of 38 students selected by their respective colleges as the university’s best. Melissa was first recognized as Outstanding Freshman for the E.J. Ourso college of Business Administration before receiving this honor. Her travels have taken her to Egypt, China, Spain, Mexico and Holland and spent last summer in Europe. Melissa applied for the STA World Traveler 2009 intern position. 2008 Elise Muller is at LSU with a 3.6 GPA. Ashley Osborn appeared in her first college show in Loyola’s production of “Spinning Into Butter” in November, 2008. Sisters and brothers, Isabelle, Jack, Caroline, Max, and Natalie are excited. 1989 Jamie Frederick McWilliams and husband Paysse welcomed their sixth child Mary Louise on January 23, 2009. 1990 Lise Middleton Sackett and husband Dean welcomed daughter Charlotte Elise on August 29, 2008. They reside outside of Washington, DC. 1991 Lyza Savoie Berkley and husband Nathan welcomed their new son, Noah James on August 4, 2008. 1992 Jamey Savoie Benton and husband George welcomed their daughter, Skye, in August 2007. 1995 Nicole Jemison Siverd and husband Justin welcomed their twins, Justin Steele and Elizabeth Ann on December 6, 2008. 1997 Kellie Price Rothman and husband Eli along with big sister Hannah welcomed their new baby, Sarah in December. Kellie is a real estate agent for City Sites, a mom and volunteer chair. They have a home in South Hampton, but live most of the time in downtown Manhatten. Jenny Schaff Mutter and husband Shane, along with daughter Ella welcomed their baby boy, Sebastian Rayce on March 17, 2008. The family resides in Madisonville. Jenny owns Hestia Luxury and Linen in Covington. 1998 Allison Guidry Clark and husband Wes had a baby girl in November. Allison graduated from medical school at LSU New Orleans in 2007. She is an anesthesiology resident at Ochsner. Laura Leigh Smith Flattman and husband Grady welcomed their new daughter, Gray Juliette Flattman in December 2007. Deirdre McMahon Sanchez and husband Mariano along with daughter Anna welcomed their son Lucas on November 10, 2008. Allison Powers Cheatwood and husband Scott welcomed their son, Hanley David on July 8, 2008. 1999 Kelly Brown Alvarado and husband Luis along with son Luis welcomed their new baby girl, Madelynn Sakura born on September 5. Katie Mayer McCollum and husband Brandon along with son Parker welcomed their baby boy Carter on October 7, 2008. 2000 Lydia Schaefer Marrero and husband welcomed their baby son, Brad, Jr. in 2007.
