• Spanish and French classes placed first in the foreign language festival play division, third place in Spanish poetry and in extemporaneous<br />
speaking, second place in French song<br />
• SSA hosts Key Club Division 13 Rally<br />
• <strong>St</strong>udents exhibited artwork in various art shows and created works for Falaya Fling<br />
• School put on a magnificent production of “The King and I”<br />
• School put on two amazing choral concerts<br />
• Three students won in the 2007 Louisiana American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) Women’s Choir.<br />
• 5A athletics: Cross country - district runner-up and finished third in state; Swimming -district runner-up and finished fourth in state;Volleyball -<br />
undefeated district champion and made it to regionals; Soccer - district runner-up and made it to the semi-finals; Bowling - district and regional<br />
champions and made it to the state quarterfinals; Indoor track finished - eighth in state; Outdoor track - district runner-up and finished eighth in state<br />
with state champ in 1600 meters, third in 3200 meters, third in 800 meters, named LA Sports Writers All <strong>St</strong>ate track team;Tennis - district runner-up<br />
and finished third in state; Softball finished fourth in district and qualified for bi-district (one senior signed to play collegiate softball); Golf team<br />
member qualified for the state tournament and finished 19th; 36 student-athletes were selected to the various All District, Parish, Metro and <strong>St</strong>ate<br />
teams.<br />
• SSA Royalettes won the UDA LA <strong>St</strong>ate Championship; competed at National Dance Team Championship in Florida achieved 5th in pom and 3rd in jazz.<br />
• SSA Cheerleaders received a grant from Chevron Corporation.The cheerleaders won first place in two categories from the Universal Cheerleaders<br />
Association; three cheerleaders were named UCA All <strong>St</strong>ars.<br />
• SPS Golden Blues won two superior ratings and a trophy at the American All-<strong>St</strong>ar dance camp; 18 were selected for the All-<strong>St</strong>ar team; participated in<br />
Louisiana <strong>St</strong>ate Dance/Drill Team Championships and were <strong>St</strong>ate Champions in Division III.<br />
• SPS Cheerleaders won first place in dance competition at the Southeastern Cheerleading Association camp in Florida; three cheerleaders were<br />
named All-Americans.<br />
• Senior chosen a WWL-TV A+ Athlete<br />
• Clarion Herald track athlete of the year<br />
• Introduced <strong>St</strong>rategic Plan 2007-2012, “Innovation, Purpose and Promise”<br />
• Keep the Promise, the first annual fund drive in over ten years was resurrected in partnership with “Innovation, Purpose and Promise” to provide for<br />
immediate needs to benefit our young women and to move SSA forward to be the best school in the Gulf South.<br />

• 155 ’08 seniors accepted to 94 colleges and universities in 25 states and the District of Columbia<br />
• 69 honor graduates (43 high honors – 4.0/26 honors – 3.7)<br />

• 84% of ’07 students earned TOPS<br />
• One senior chosen as a STEM scholar at LSU<br />
• Honor roll: 355 <strong>Fall</strong> Mid-Term; 386 <strong>Fall</strong> End-Term; 413 Spring Mid-Term<br />
• 10 students went on to state rally from their participation in district rally<br />
• SSA students placed first, second and third in Regional Science Fair.<br />
• <strong>St</strong>udents participated in the Model United Nations; student was elected Vice President of the General Assembly.<br />
• 74 students attended the Holocaust Trip where three of our students and a staff member laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in<br />
Arlington National Cemetery.<br />
•18 students went on Close-up trip to Washington, D.C.<br />
• College Tour visited eight universities<br />
• 20 teachers in the SSA Fellows Program<br />
• SSA Fellows Program chosen for Making the Grade award; received a $2,000 award from The Brees Foundation.<br />

• New AP courses were initiated in Fine Arts Survey and American Government<br />
• AP – Outcomes assessment conference for student affairs<br />
• 2 tech members and a teacher went to a national AP conferences<br />
• Academic Dean and teacher went to a national power standards and assessment conference<br />
• Principal and teacher went to a national conference on differentiated instruction<br />
• 3 art teachers went to national art education conference<br />
• Math department participated in an in-service on Geometer’s Sketch Pad<br />
• 8th and 9th graders issued tablet PC’s in March<br />
• Teachers participated in in-services on technology in preparation for the student laptop initiative<br />
• Technology team instituted a Help Desk for students and teachers<br />
COMMUNITY<br />
• 32,500 total service hours to the community<br />
• Academic Dean and teacher attended a service learning conference<br />
• Adopt-A-Family Program received $21,000 from the SSA school community to help 51 families at Christmas.<br />
• Science Club participated in Mandeville Beach Sweep<br />
• SSA supplied food for the Covington Food Bank<br />
• Senior Outreach Day worked with three non-profits.<br />
• Junior Outreach worked with Habitat for Humanity<br />
• 35 students and faculty trained as election commissioners for <strong>St</strong>.Tammany Parish.<br />
• 11 alumnae are among faculty and staff at SSA.<br />
• 17 alumnae were Career Day panelists<br />
