First place winners were: Curt Hebert, Bryan Burns,<br />
Keith Jarrett, and Bob Pool<br />
The 10th annual SSA Dove Classic Golf Tournament<br />
was held at Beau Chene Golf and Country Club on<br />
May 5. There were 16 teams who supported SSA and<br />
enjoyed a beautiful day of golf. A box lunch was<br />
provided by Chick-fil-A for all the golfers before the tee<br />
off. In the evening, Cinco de Mayo - themed dinner<br />
provided by WOW’s was served as tournament awards<br />
and door prizes were given out. The proceeds from the<br />
Dove Classic will go to the SSA athletic program and<br />
athletic complex.<br />
First place team for the tournament was Bryan Burns,<br />
Curt Hebert, Keith Jarrett, and Bob Pool. Second place<br />
was T.C. Ford and New Orleans Saints player Kevin<br />
Kaesviharn. Third place was Scott Ballard, <strong>St</strong>eve Ballard,<br />
Ron Gitz, and Joseph Reagan. The winner of the event<br />
Putt for a Prize was Brian Bertucci. Silent auction items<br />
were an autographed Duece McAllister Saints jersey, an<br />
autographed Mark Colsten Saints jersey, and an<br />
autographed Saints football. Raffle items included a<br />
David Eckstein #22 Cardinals autographed baseball; Jim<br />
Edmonds autographed baseball, and a Taylor Made golf<br />
bag.<br />
The 2008 SSA Dove Classic Golf Committee members<br />
were: Bruce Crawford, Doug Cristina, Jim Farris, T.C.<br />
Ford and Mikaela Levy Ford ‘00, Bob Pool, Rick<br />
Gonzales, and Al Zahn.<br />
Athletic Director Art Lyons, New Orleans Saints player Kevin<br />
Kaesviharn, and SSA basketball coach Micki Andry.<br />
The volunteers were: Denise Farris, Christine Clark,<br />
Peggy Harrison, Alvin Toups, Jan Vroomon, Virginia<br />
Hebert, John Player, Nancy Heidingsfelder, Nancy<br />
Baldwin, Eleanore Krentel ‘98 and Marie Crawford.<br />
Faculty and <strong>St</strong>aff Members<br />
Honored for Years of Service<br />
Ten faculty and staff members received the Emile<br />
Navarre Years of Service Award during the 2008<br />
Feast Day celebration. Each honoree was given an<br />
SSA Crest lapel pin by Jean Miller, sister of the late<br />
Navarre. The pin signifies service with a different<br />
precious stone indicating five-year increments<br />
Navarre, who had long been associated with the<br />
<strong>Academy</strong>, started the program three years before his<br />
death. He had expressed a desire to commemorate<br />
continuous years of service by the SSA faculty and<br />
staff.<br />
