Reaping rich rewards
Team Luminescence won LIME (Lessons in Marketing Excellence)
Team Luminescence from SPJIMR was the winner of the
fourth season of Lessons in Marketing Excellence
(LIME). LIME organized by Hindustan Unilever in
collaboration with CNBC-TV 18 is the most sought after
competition in all the top B-schools of the country.
SPJIMR's team consisting of Nilisha Agarwal, Santosh
Gaurav & Avinash Nair bagged a huge cheque of Rs.6
Lacs and each of them got pre-placement interviews
with HUL. It has been a long journey and a lot of hard
work for them which involved solving 3 difficult cases in
the campus round, semi-finals & the grand finale. They
had to solve real problems which included providing
strategy for a new e-commerce entrant in India,
launching a product in a new category and solving a
pressing issue of national importance to provide
housing for all. After battling it out with 3400 teams and
10,000 participants, they emerged victorious with IIM-
Bangalore and London Business School as the runners
up in the grand finale held in Hotel Shangri-La, Mumbai
on February 26, 2013. The occasion was graced by the
chief guest, Mr. Ajay Maken, the minister of Housing &
Urban Poverty Alleviation and Mr. Nitin Paranjpe, CEO
HUL. Team work and coordination were the
foundations for victory which included working from
different continents and across different time zones,
says the winning team. They were then invited to
represent India in a global event – Unilever's Future
Leader's League 2013 - where winning teams from
country level Unilever competitions from 10 countries
came together to form this League. SPJIMR's team was

immensely excited and worked very hard towards
preparing for the challenge at the Future Leaders'
League at Singapore. It was about the Unilever brand
Lifebuoy and making hand-washing a habit.The team
had a great experience there as well. They interacted
with some of the top-level managers and leaders at
Unilever and met some of the best and brightest minds
of the world. They gave an outstanding performance
and were the 1st runners-up in the competition.
A lot of learning, a great experience and a remarkable
exposure are what sum up LIME and Future Leaders'
League. I'm glad we got the opportunity to go to a
different county, meet some great people and make
everyone proud.

LIME and the Future Leaders' League were both unique
and phenomenal learning experiences. It took a lot of
hard work and dedication but it was rewarding with
amazing exposure to what leaders are made of and
great friends across the world.

Both LIME and Future Leaders' League have been
