Celebrating Diwali with Sitaras

The true joy of Diwali comes when you share what you
have with everyone around. Even the smallest of gifts
can bring a smile to a child's face when they see the
love with which it is given. The joy was experienced
once again on November 9 by the Abhyudaya
Committee when they organised a get-together for the
mentors and their sitaras. The evening started off with
the launch of the 2012 Committee video, which was
received with thunderous cheers. This was followed by
naamkaran- a ceremony in which a specially chosen
name was given to the Abhyudaya library set up for
sitaras. Some names were shortlisted from the plethora
of entries invited from the PGP1 batch of which the final
vote was for 'Gyanoday' given by Atul Mishra. The
library is equipped with hundreds of books for children.
Then came the biggest surprise for the kids, screening
of the movie- Kung Fu Panda-2. The movie was a fun
experience for the kids and their mentors who cheered
and clapped together.
The event concluded with the lighting of diyas by all of
them and the kids went home happy and content,
carrying memories of an evening well spent.
Abhyudaya Diwali Camp
Keeping up with tradition, Abhyudaya organised the
fifth Diwali camp for its sitaras from Nov 16 to Nov 28.
The camp provided the sitaras an exposure to new art
forms like calligraphy, origami, sports and activities
like chess, keeping them engaged and interested right
through the camp. The activities helped the sitaras in
developing and improving skills like planning,
communication, problem-solving, etc. By conducting
classes for the various scholarship exams like NMMS &
NTSE, Abhyudaya helped its sitaras prepare for
forthcoming competitive examinations and give their
best. Workshops like 'Fun-with-Math' and 'Effective
Study Habits' were held to develop and motivate the
sitaras academically and enhance their performance.
