The sixth edition of the annual sports festival, SPRINT concluded
January-4-6, 2013
SPJIMR concluded the sixth edition of its annual
sports festival SPRINT. This year, SPRINT registered
participation from 13 B-schools across India. A
total of 14 sports events were conducted across
eight venues over three days.
As one of the unique initiatives in SPRINT'13, the
former captain of the Indian hockey team, Mr. Viren
Rasquinha visited SPJIMR for an exhibition football
match organised by an NGO called 'Slum Soccer'.
SPRINT'13 also witnessed an exhibition cricket match
between SPJIMR team and the TAS executive team.
After a gruelling routine of 14 sports events, which
included 157 matches to be played, the final medals
tally was declared, in which SPJIMR emerged as a clear
overall winner.
‘Foosball’ table at SPJIMR
The Sports Committee at SPJIMR made a Foosball table
available for SPJIMR students as a part of campaign
leading to SPRINT '13.
Table football, also known as foosball or biliardino, is a
table-top game and sport that is loosely based on
association football. To begin the game, the ball is
served through a hole at the side of the table, or simply
placed by hand at the feet of a figure in the centre of the
table. The initial serving side is decided with a coin toss.
Players attempt to use figures mounted on rotating bars
to kick the ball into the opposing goal. Expert players
have been known to move balls at speeds up to 56
km/h (35 mph) in competition.
Students as well as faculty members enjoyed playing a
game of Foosball during free time.
Spectrum – a Global Cultural event
celebrates life in SPJIMR

On December 6, 2012, as the sun set, a celebrations
began in the auditorium of SPJIMR. The occasion was
Spectrum – a Global Cultural event organised by the
International Exchange and Internship Committee
together with the Cultural Committee to celebrate
music, dance and life in SPJIMR Mumbai.
The evening started with a string of power packed
performances. From renditions of popular Bollywood
songs and gleeful strums of the guitar to crooning
voices, the event had it all. In-house dance groups
Laasya and Dance Inc. mesmerised the audience with
their moves. Partha Barman, Chitra Chatterjee, Rajesh
Goel, Sukhbarinder Gill and many more kept the
audience humming. In between, a Tamil version of
Roja served to explore diversity within the Indian
context. The international community was represented
by students from ESCP France, BEM Bourdeaux, USM
Malaysia and ESB Reutlingen. And when the audience
joined them in singing WakaWaka, disparate voices,
cultures and traditions mingled into one and provided
the climax for a very vibrant evening. The international
snacks that followed provided the perfect ending for
the magical night.
