SPJIMR concludes the fifth edition <strong>of</strong> its annual management <strong>and</strong> cultural festival OJAS<br />

SPJIMR concluded the fifth edition <strong>of</strong> its annual<br />

management <strong>and</strong> cultural fest OJAS that spanned<br />

three days <strong>and</strong> saw participation from more than 158<br />

colleges including the top 20 B-schools in India. With<br />

“Strength, Strategy, Survival” as its theme, OJAS 5.0<br />

achieved major milestones not only in terms <strong>of</strong> student<br />

<strong>and</strong> corporate involvement but also in terms <strong>of</strong><br />

leverage <strong>of</strong> social media <strong>and</strong> general online presence<br />

to achieve increased permeability with all the<br />

stakeholders.<br />

Some <strong>of</strong> the major highlights <strong>of</strong> OJAS 5.0 were: Twenty<br />

core team members managed functions like<br />

marketing, events, sponsors, logistics etc. supported by<br />

110 coordinators from the batch. A 250% increase in<br />

Facebook fan following over the last year was<br />

achieved. About 9,000 online registrations were<br />

received for the events <strong>and</strong> 26 sponsors supported the<br />

event. OJAS 5.0 held a total <strong>of</strong> 16 management events.<br />

More than 8,100 participants came from outside<br />

SPJIMR <strong>and</strong> the cultural footfall recorded 1,200<br />

participants.<br />

Friendly football match between ESCP-Paris<br />

students <strong>and</strong> SPJIMR team<br />

The Sports Committee at SPJIMR organised a friendly<br />

football match between ESCP students visiting the<br />

campus <strong>and</strong> the SPJIMR team.<br />

ESCP Europe is a business school located in Paris,<br />

London, Berlin, Madrid, <strong>and</strong> Turin. Established in<br />

1819, it is the world's first business school. ESCP was<br />

ranked 10th amongst European Business Schools in<br />

2012 by Financial Times. In 2010, its Master in<br />

<strong>Management</strong> programme was ranked 1st worldwide<br />

by the Financial Times. ESCP-Paris students had arrived<br />

at SPJIMR for international project management<br />

seminar held in Nov-Dec 2012.<br />

The SPJIMR team outperformed their opponents <strong>and</strong><br />

won the match by a score <strong>of</strong> 6-1.<br />

The match served as a bonding exercise for<br />

participating students, ensuring that it was the sporting<br />

spirit that came out the winner in this friendly match.<br />

Fun sports for PGDM students at Juhu<br />

beach<br />

Sports Committee at SPJIMR organised a fun session<br />

for PGDM students at Juhu beach as part <strong>of</strong> the annual<br />

initiative <strong>of</strong> SPRINT, the sports festival <strong>of</strong> SPJIMR.<br />

The participants were asked to form their teams <strong>and</strong><br />

register for the event. The event saw a large number <strong>of</strong><br />

students turnout despite the event being scheduled on<br />

a Sunday morning. The entire event was coordinated<br />

by the Sports Committee.<br />

Students also brought their own sporting equipments<br />

<strong>and</strong> played volleyball, football, etc.<br />

A friendly Frisbee match was played between the Sprint<br />

core team <strong>and</strong> the rest <strong>of</strong> the participants. Sprint core<br />

team won the competition but all the participating<br />

members enjoyed the event thoroughly.<br />

“The event was very interesting <strong>and</strong> stress relieving.<br />

The Sports Committee should organise more such<br />

events,” said Sumit Dhingra, PGDM 2012-14 student.<br />

“Even a simple sport like Frisbee can be a great stress<br />

reliever in the busy schedules. I thoroughly enjoyed<br />

participating <strong>and</strong> coordinating the event along with<br />

Sports Committee members,” said Praveen Kumar,<br />

PGDM 2012-14 student.<br />
