PGPM Batch Immersion Experience
SPJIMR continued its innovation in MBA education as it
sent its entire batch of Post Graduate Programme in
Management (PGPM) for a three week long
international immersion. Not only is this initiative rare
for an 11-month duration programme, but it is unique
in that each of the four specialisations is getting
differentiated inputs.
The Information Management students travelled to the
McCombs School at the University of Texas at Austin,
which is one of the top-5 B-School for Information
Management as ranked by US News & World Report.
Similarly, the Operations Management students
travelled to Michigan State University, which is again a
top-5 US B-school for advanced Supply Chain
Management.
The objective of the international immersion was to
provide participants with advanced and in-depth
knowledge in their area of specialisation. The longterm
goal is for the participants to deliver superior
value to their post-MBA employers.
Here are some of the experiences shared by the
participants.
"The immersion exposed us first hand to how
businesses work in the biggest economy of the world,
the culture, understanding of why the US is so
innovative. We had some outstanding professors who
gave a holistic perspective on how Information
Technology is the one of the key drivers of businesses
around the globe and what it takes to be a successful
business leader. We were fortunate to learn some
cutting edge topics such as Social Media Analytics at
the university as well as during visits to one of the blue
chip companies in the region. Overall, it was a
fantastic all round experience, complementing our
learning in our regular course, worth every cent." -

University was highly enriching and it translated
learning from a national to a global perspective. The
programme was personalised and structured based
on the courses covered at SPJIMR and past work
experience of students. Healthy classroom discussions
based on case studies and learning through videos

like these would help students build relationship with
international faculty and gain international exposure."
