the Swa-Shakti Project; and
Provide them information on Government schemes.
Focus of activities during the second year of project
implementation
The field worker should take note of the following suggestions
to develop the SHGs that have entered the second year:
Every member should be aware of the Swa-Shakti
Project; they must know what the Project can do and
what is not possible;
The Project should spend at least Rs.10,000 on each
group every year in terms of their training,
exposure visits, awareness materials, theme
camps, etc.;
Every group should by now be aware of the
NGO's action plan and will also have
developed an action plan for its own
development;
Some group members should have started
income generation activities and others will
have started discussing possible activities;
Members are aware of possible Government schemes
and have started applying for some of them; and
The process of networking has started.
The field worker should now take the following steps to
promote income generation activities:
A quick survey of SHG members should be conducted
to identify those members already involved in some
income generation activity and who need support from
the Project; and also to identify those members who are
in a position to increase their incomes through land
development or cattle based activities;
Once the survey results are analysed, the members can
be divided into the following categories:
Those who have access to land and can be provided
agriculture related training;
