Tips for Field Workers Since the Swa-Shakti Project will end in May 2004, every field worker should discuss these issues with her group and establish a time frame for the group to achieve the above. This should also become part of group’s action plan. DPMs will review the level of sustainability at every review meeting with the field worker and NGO. SWA-SHAKTI Some important parameters that could be used to assess the sustainability of Swa-Shakti groups: Area Groups’ internal practices Groups’ financial viability Networking Saturation Participation in community activities Parameter Attendance – 90 per cent Meetings – at least 2 per month Training – 1 training programme per member every 18 months Savings – monthly and regular Loans – 1 loan per member every two years Repayment of loan - 100 per cent Record management – own arrangements by the group after 18 months Average group membership – 15 or more members per group Proportion of shy members – less than 25 per cent after two years The group will pay all the costs (mentioned in the earlier table on cost sharing) from its own funds.
