involves acute investment of time and energy in addition to
their already heavy burden of tasks.
Health Related activities
The project can provide medical assistance to SHG members
so that they are able to benefit fully from the economic
activities.
Poverty and malnutrition are the principal causes of ill
health, particularly amongst women. The gap between
knowledge and information, poor infrastructure, a poor
quality of life that leads to poor environment and unhygienic
living conditions, lack of linkages within the health care
delivery system, inaccessibility of health care facilities make
people suffer more, even for minor illnesses.
Under the project, women can demand support for health
needs and a woman health volunteer from the group can be
trained in basic health care to provide the following services:
disseminate information on basic health care;
promote simple and affordable preventive health care
measures;
build linkages and coordination with local
health centers and existing Government
programmes; and
Provide simple, basic health care services
like first aid, oral rehydration
salts, etc.
These services will be actively assisted
by the project which will also provide the woman
volunteer health education material and a basic
first aid kit.
