The SHGs that are more than a year old can start a crêche
with following assistance from the project:
a. The Project will reimburse 90 per cent of the total
cost of hiring a child minder, during the first year
and 60 per cent during the second year. Thereafter,
the expenditure on child minder becomes the
responsibility of the SHG; and
b. Some initial equipment to start the crèche.
The approved pattern established by the National Crèche
Fund must be followed for this purpose. 8
Working with adolescent girls
Following steps could be taken to involve them in project
activities:
Adolescent girls who are literate could be encouraged to
become literacy volunteers for teaching the SHG members;
The trained SHG representatives could be encouraged
to become master trainers for forming and training
adolescent girls SHGs on their own without the
intervention of the field worker;
