It has been a very busy and rewarding year in<br />
the DT department.<br />
Students have once again displayed the highest<br />
level <strong>of</strong> creativity and commitment, with<br />
many spending evenings and weekends in<br />
school completing their coursework.<br />

and make a range <strong>of</strong> costumes. Paul, with his<br />
inspirational design <strong>of</strong> a sensory room for a<br />
disabled client has been shortlisted by the<br />
WJEC for the student Innovations Award in<br />
Oc<strong>to</strong>ber and we are anticipating great success<br />
in <strong>this</strong> prestigious competition.<br />
AS Product Design.<br />
This year students from Year 12 are sitting the<br />
Product Design course in<br />
either 3D design or Textile<br />
Design. Students have enjoyed<br />
the opportunity <strong>of</strong><br />
Once again the visiting modera<strong>to</strong>r was impressed<br />
with the<br />
range and creativity<br />
<strong>of</strong> work on display,<br />
stating, ‘Your students<br />
at<br />
<strong>Stanwell</strong><br />
show a<br />
great deal <strong>of</strong><br />
creativity<br />
and enthusiasm for their DT work’. Rebecca<br />
Trigg and Paul Keeling were singled out as<br />
displaying true creativity and huge dedication<br />
in their projects, in<br />
particular Rebecca, who<br />
decided <strong>to</strong> use the character<br />
<strong>of</strong> Titania from<br />
‘A Midsummer's<br />
Night Dream’ as the<br />
inspiration <strong>to</strong> design<br />
specialising in either<br />
3D or Textiles at <strong>this</strong><br />
level and both groups have produced a outstanding<br />
range <strong>of</strong><br />
outcomes. Jenni<br />
Davies is worthy<br />
<strong>of</strong> praise for she<br />
has developed a<br />
new concept for<br />
emergency shelter<br />
which can be deployed<br />
in either<br />
flood or drought<br />
conditions. Marco<br />
Sun impressed<br />
staff with his development <strong>of</strong> a wooden balance<br />
bike for a 4 year old.<br />
Well done <strong>to</strong> all our students, the visiting modera<strong>to</strong>rs<br />
were unanimous in their praise!<br />
