Year 7<br />
Miss R Sterlini and Mr M Baldwin<br />
Callum Russell. The participation in clubs<br />
and activities outside <strong>of</strong> school is as<br />
impressive as in the Autumn Term. Several<br />
<strong>of</strong> the boys support rugby and football clubs,<br />
as well as playing for the clubs in school:<br />
Toby Dyer plays for the U12 Cardiff City<br />
football team and the Sully A team; Ryan<br />
Packer plays for the U13 Cogan team;<br />
Benjamin Hayes also plays for the Sully A<br />
team and in the Penarth U12 rugby team;<br />
Matthew Hocking is involved with the All<br />
Penarthian rugby club and Sully B football<br />
team, recently winning the accolade <strong>of</strong> ‘Most<br />
Improved Player; Callum Russell plays for<br />
the U12 Penarth rugby team, as does<br />
Matthew Frost who also plays with the<br />
Cogan U13 football team and the U13 cricket<br />
team in Penarth!<br />
In other sports, Katy Cutts has been moved<br />
up another half grade in horseriding;<br />
Josephine Harris has been promoted <strong>to</strong><br />
level P6 in Cardiff Swimming Club – she can<br />
cover 50m in an impressive 35 seconds!<br />
She’s also pretty fast on dry land, coming 3 rd<br />
in the 800m at a competition in Leckwith.<br />
Kieran Murphy and Jozef Bailey both<br />
swim in Cogan swimming club, and Jozef is<br />
also training as a rookie lifeguard. Jamie<br />
Locke-Jones is a member <strong>of</strong> the Cardiff<br />
Kayak Club enjoying the facilities at the<br />
National White Water Centre. Katie Streets<br />
was involved in a sporting appearance <strong>of</strong> a<br />
different sort, further adding <strong>to</strong> her televised<br />
appearances: at a recent international cricket<br />
match in Cardiff Wales Stadium, shown on<br />
Sky Sports, she walked out as mascot with<br />
New Zealand captain Ross Taylor.<br />
There has also been much involvement in the<br />
arts: Eleanor Rose-Griffiths <strong>to</strong>ok part in the<br />
High <strong>School</strong>s concert in St David’s Hall<br />
earlier <strong>this</strong> year; Matthew Hocking came 1 st in<br />
the Art competition in the school Eisteddfod;<br />
Matthew Frost found time between sporting<br />
activities <strong>to</strong> pass grade 4 piano with merit and<br />
grade 3 theory also with merit; Georgia Davies,<br />
Holly Keith, Lily Sellick, Connie Shah, Katie<br />
Streets are all members <strong>of</strong> the school’s drama<br />
club, and <strong>of</strong> course a huge number <strong>of</strong> the form<br />
sang their hearts out in the Year 7 concert in<br />
May. Well done <strong>to</strong> all in 7R – have a welldeserved<br />
summer break and all the best for Year<br />
8!<br />
7K<br />
Kate Beeslee has just obtained her black belt in<br />
karate. Ellis Dibble has played for Cardiff and<br />
the Vale Football team all season. Elinor Hain<br />
has obtained her Ballet grade two. Zacchary<br />
Filliau has recently joined Cardiff Devils Ice<br />
Hockey team and after four weeks has made the<br />
squad. Seren Lewis gained third place at<br />
Sunnybrook dressage competition. Oliver Marsh<br />
has represented the County at golf.<br />
Stanley Murphy-Johns has been training very<br />
hard and completed five miles in under 40<br />
minutes. Hannah Salmon has just obtained her<br />
grade one in tap dancing. Eleanor Warren has<br />
recently been awarded a grade three distinction in<br />
flute. Benjamin Hanson was player <strong>of</strong> the year<br />
for the Old Penarthians junior rugby. Bethan<br />
Woodley has just passed her young Lifesavers<br />
award.<br />
7L<br />
7L have had a very busy time since Christmas. In<br />
addition <strong>to</strong> their commitments and<br />
responsibilities <strong>to</strong> their lessons and clubs inside<br />
