Year 8<br />

8E<br />
A number <strong>of</strong> pupils have been very active outside<br />
<strong>of</strong> the school <strong>this</strong> term. Both Harry Smith<br />
and Cameron Jones were part <strong>of</strong> the Sully<br />
Sports team who won the Cup Final <strong>this</strong> year, as<br />
well as finishing <strong>to</strong>p <strong>of</strong> the league. Alexander<br />
Whitfield has been taking <strong>to</strong> the water recently<br />
and came 4 th in the Welsh Topper Championships<br />
in Llandegthedd, and also won the Gold<br />
Fleet Toppers in the Mumbles CYRC. He is<br />
currently a member <strong>of</strong> the Welsh Squad. Congratulations<br />
Alex. As well as sporting activities,<br />
members <strong>of</strong> the form have been progressing<br />
with their music. Lucy Dutfield has recently<br />
passed her grade 2 on the clarinet, and Benjamin<br />
Roderick has passed grade 4 on guitar and<br />
grade 6 on piano.<br />
8A<br />
A number <strong>of</strong> pupils in 8A have been busy during<br />
the last term. Kathryn Morgan been competing<br />
in gym and dance competitions and Jade<br />
Eastwood recently came 3 rd and 2 nd in two<br />
races at a recent swimming gala. An<strong>to</strong>n<br />
Trunin, Eli Jennings, Menna Bafaqih, Olivia<br />
Griffin, Caitlin Colley, Jade Eastwood and<br />
Dafydd Morgans are all currently heavily involved<br />
in rehearsals for the upcoming production<br />
<strong>of</strong> Oliver. Dafydd also won <strong>this</strong> year’s<br />
Drama Cup award.<br />
8M<br />
A number <strong>of</strong> pupils in 8M have raised money<br />
for different charities <strong>this</strong> term. Henry Waddon<br />
swam 5 kilometres in aid <strong>of</strong> Marie Curie<br />
Cancer Care; Lucie Isaacs has been busy organising<br />
events, including a talent show for the<br />
local charity LATCH and, in addition <strong>to</strong> <strong>this</strong>,<br />
Rebekah Coles <strong>to</strong>ok part in a charity walk (Pen<br />
-y-Fan) in order <strong>to</strong> raise money for Hope for<br />
Justice. Tomas McSorley bravely attempted <strong>to</strong><br />
walk a mile wearing high heel shoes <strong>to</strong> raise<br />
awareness <strong>of</strong> Domestic Violence. Sporting<br />
achievements in 8M include Rhys Walker<br />
achieving 3rd place in a recent swimming gala.<br />
8X<br />
Many girls from 8X participated in the Cardiff<br />
Race for Life including Eiman Khan, Darwin<br />
Alford, Daisy Osborne-Walsh, Chloe Taylor<br />
and Cora Squire. Cora Squire also raised<br />
money for cancer charities by running 6 laps <strong>of</strong><br />
Cosmes<strong>to</strong>n Lake with her guide troop. Chloe<br />
Taylor has also be fundraising with her family<br />
raising money for Marie Curie. Sporting<br />
achievements include Lauren Stephens who<br />
has captained the girls’ netball team as well as<br />
representing Can<strong>to</strong>n and Vale netball teams.<br />
Torrin O’Neill, Maximilian Paley, Daniel<br />
Ander<strong>to</strong>n have represented the school in rugby.<br />
Dan Ander<strong>to</strong>n has captained the school football<br />
team. Joseph Scrivens has also represented<br />
the school in football and has been recognised<br />
for his striking potential as the <strong>to</strong>p scorer <strong>this</strong><br />
season. Daniel Ander<strong>to</strong>n has also participated<br />
in regional and national badmin<strong>to</strong>n championships,<br />
whilst in a regional Scouts Shooting contest,<br />
Niall McSorley came second. Jack Cooke<br />
is a keen athlete participating in national events<br />
coming 12th in the national long jump contest.<br />
Seren Mirza-Davies continues <strong>to</strong> develop her<br />
gymnastic potential passing her grade 11!<br />
