8K<br />

Madeline Lloyd has taken her grade 8 flute<br />

exam and was also in the band for the Oliver<br />

production. Olivia Davies <strong>to</strong>ok part in a dance<br />

competition as part <strong>of</strong> a dance group called<br />

‘Iconic me’. They won first prize and have<br />

become the Welsh Street Dance Champions <strong>of</strong><br />

2013. She was also a member <strong>of</strong> the Oliver<br />

Chorus and part <strong>of</strong> a group <strong>of</strong> Year 8 girls who<br />

are currently preparing for their second LATCH<br />

fundraising event. LATCH is a charity which<br />

raises money for children who are diagnosed<br />

with cancer. Bethany Keane, Kitty Dunning,<br />

Katharine Sellen-Moore, Megan Jenkins,<br />

Sophie Chapman and Carmela Hermogeno<br />

were members <strong>of</strong> the chorus for Oliver. Ella<br />

McConkey also played the part <strong>of</strong> an orphan in<br />

the show.<br />

Katherine Sellen-Moore is a keen horse rider<br />

and competes regularly, coming second twice.<br />

Katie Thomas is a keen sportswoman. She is a<br />

member <strong>of</strong> the Penarth netball team and has<br />

competed in dance competitions and athletics<br />

events. Samuel Salisbury plays for Penarth<br />

Football Club and was elected by his fellow<br />

players as player <strong>of</strong> the season. Jacob Mills has<br />

won a fishing plaque for catching a specimen<br />

fish. Sam Staple<strong>to</strong>n was elected most improved<br />

player for the Penarth U13 Football Team. Sam<br />

also played in the school’s 5 a side football<br />

competition.<br />

An<strong>to</strong>nio Peacock competes for Barry and the<br />

Vale athletics club. He has also competed in<br />

cross country events for South Wales schools<br />

and Cardiff and the Vale. Samuel Hancock<br />

played in the band for the production <strong>of</strong> Oliver.<br />

Rhys Wookey and Ethan Harris play for Sully<br />

Football Club and they won the Vale <strong>of</strong><br />

Glamorgan league and cup final. They also<br />

came third in a football <strong>to</strong>urnament in Selsea in<br />

the south <strong>of</strong> England. Danny Donovan is a<br />

member <strong>of</strong> Wenvoe Colts football club.<br />

8L<br />

Rebecca Davies has passed her music exams<br />

in the clarinet, piano and cornet. Emily<br />

Skinner and Alana S<strong>to</strong>kes have represented<br />

the school in tennis, football, running and<br />

athletic <strong>to</strong>urnaments. Isabelle Hodgson <strong>to</strong>ok<br />

part in the writers’ club with Year 6 pupils<br />

from the Primary schools.<br />

Jack Lee played rugby for Dinas Powys U14s<br />

and went on ski trip <strong>to</strong> Austria. Euan<br />

Shardlow completed a 30 mile bike ride for<br />

the Scouts, while Harry Newman went <strong>to</strong> an<br />

eco - schools conference.<br />

Kris<strong>to</strong>pher Black went on German exchange.<br />

Alec Smith won school endurance award.<br />

Oliver El-Jawhiri joined Penarth Tennis Club<br />

and earned a bronze award in a set 1 maths<br />

challenge.<br />

Luke Williams got <strong>to</strong> the final in a 5 a side<br />

football <strong>to</strong>urnament.<br />

Jack McConkey has achieved two sailing<br />

club awards.<br />

Owen Day has raised money for Sea Cadets<br />

with a sponsored 23k rowing event, he also<br />

went on the ski trip <strong>to</strong> Austria.<br />

Joshua Cheeseman enjoys attending<br />

homework club regularly and went on the<br />

Bris<strong>to</strong>l Zoo trip.<br />

Kabir Knupp swam for City <strong>of</strong> Cardiff<br />

Swimming club and is working hard <strong>to</strong><br />

improve his fitness.<br />

Well done all these pupils who have continued<br />

<strong>to</strong> develop their extra-curricular interest both in<br />

school and outside school <strong>this</strong> year. Keep up<br />

the good work!<br />
