The institute performs interdisciplinary research on complex<br />

functional materials and structures, studies of physical, chemical<br />

principles, development of characterisation techniques,<br />

implementation into integrated micro- and nanosystems. There<br />

Description: The <strong>Nanotech</strong>nology Laboratory investigates the structure and<br />

composition of carbon nanotubes, produced by different methods.<br />

Other areas of research include STM and AFM technology and<br />

photonics.<br />

The Thin Film Laboratory<br />

Description: The Thin Film Laboratory works in the field of wide band gap<br />

semiconductors, novel carbon based materials and has pioneering<br />

activity in TEM sample preparation.<br />

Description: The Thin-Film Nanosystems Laboratory works on size<br />

dependent properties (electronic structure) of the systems with<br />

different dimensions (0D, 2D, and 3D), prepared by thin film<br />

technology.<br />
