Description: This institute has world-class high-pressure equipment for<br />

multidisciplinary research, including nanomaterials. The<br />

laboratory of nanomaterials work on synthesis,<br />

characterisation and sintering of bulk nanometric materials.<br />

They also work on structural characterisation of polycrystalline<br />

nanomaterials from X-ray diffraction and, in co-operation with<br />

other research groups, investigate their basic crystallite sizedependant<br />

properties.<br />

Description: The centre specialises in design and modelling of smart<br />

materials and mechatronics, including nanomaterials. The<br />

Institute plays an increasingly important role in the development<br />

of new technologies, in the construction of research equipment<br />

and development of modern methods of measurement.<br />

Description: Institute research activity include Dimensional analysis and<br />

theory of similarity, structural studies, biomechanics, dynamics of<br />

mechanical systems, strength hypotheses, elasticity and<br />

plasticity theory, materials technology (nano-materials, new<br />

plastics and their technology, reinforced composite structures,<br />

changes in microstructure and material properties, sol-gel<br />

technology), fracture mechanics and the fatigue of materials,<br />

methods of experimental mechanics, modelling of processes in<br />

mechanics, rheology, strength of materials, recycling of plastics.<br />

The institute houses two Centers of Excellence for:<br />

• Sol Gel Materials and <strong>Nanotech</strong>nology (SGM&N)<br />

• Materials Recycling (MARECEX)<br />
