A couple of recent developments . . . .
Press Release: Mayor doubles renewable energy targets for new buildings
28 Sep 2006
“ Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has today set out plans to double
the carbon emissions reductions that developments must achieve, and
reiterated that tackling climate change through the way we construct our
new buildings in London remains a top priority . .
. . . . public consultation alterations to the London Plan. The new policies
double the carbon emission reductions that developments must achieve
through onsite renewable energy from 10 per cent to 20 per cent”
ODPM survey: Microgeneration requirement taken up in planning (9 June
2006)
. . . . looked at the 121 plans for new developments across England put
forward since the Planning Policy Statement 22 was introduced in August
2004, giving local authorities the right to impose minimum renewable
generation quotas for new build.
It examined whether local authorities were taking advantage of these newfound
powers, and found this to be the case in around a third (39 out of 121)
of the development plans.
