As adopted by <strong>Council</strong> on 28 February <strong>2013</strong><br />

<strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> Base Hospital; and<br />
<strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> Regional Airport, which has daily direct services to Sydney and<br />
Brisbane.<br />
In 2010, it was estimated that 216 staff were employed at the SCU <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> campus to<br />
support the education of 998 equivalent full–time students. It has a significant positive<br />
impact on the range and number of skilled people in the <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> community, as well<br />
as an important economic impact.<br />
The <strong>City</strong> includes large shopping and service precincts and a multiplex cinema. There are<br />
over 25 <strong>Council</strong> or community-owned halls and similar facilities, including the Cavanbagh<br />
Community Centre. Some of the local schools have substantial facilities for performing arts<br />
in particular.<br />
Other towns outside the municipality but within the region (up to 2 hours driving time)<br />
include: Bellingen, Dorrigo, Nambucca Heads, Macksville, Kempsey, Port Macquarie and<br />
Grafton. Residents of the Bellingen and Nambucca municipalities in particular often work in<br />
<strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong> and/or use it as a centre for services, shopping and entertainment.<br />
4. <strong>Cultural</strong> activity in <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong><br />
A vibrant arts and cultural presence is important to the livability of <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong>, as a place<br />
which offers a fully rounded lifestyle. Its importance is reflected in the 2030 <strong>Plan</strong> which<br />
emphasises the need for creative expression and recreation as important to the enjoyment<br />
of life in this region<br />
There are many cultural activities available in <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong>, including:<br />
an exciting program of exhibitions by professional and community artists at the<br />
Regional Art Gallery and the Bunker Cartoon Gallery;<br />
<br />
an extensive program of festivals, markets and community celebrations;<br />
the Regional Conservatorium of Music, which offers musical education to schools<br />
and individual students including adults;<br />
<br />

a number of dance schools and community groups offering a wide range of dance<br />
classes for children and adults;<br />
practicing visual artists and craftspeople, some of whom operate their own galleries;<br />
the increasingly vibrant presence of multicultural events, such as Harmony Day and<br />
the African Ball, which reflect the diversity of the community;<br />
