Draft Terms of Reference for the proposed<br />

<strong>Cultural</strong> Reference Group<br />

The Reference Group will consist of nine members of the community who can bring<br />

experience and insight into the review of implementation of the <strong>Cultural</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>. These<br />

community members will be informed by their activities in <strong>Coffs</strong> <strong>Harbour</strong>, knowledge of the<br />

local region and experiences in other communities.<br />

The group will meet three times a year:<br />

1. The first meeting will take place half way through each year of implementation to<br />

review progress on the plan with the members of the <strong>Cultural</strong> and Community<br />

Development team;<br />

2. The second meeting will be at the end of each full year of implementation to draft a<br />

section of the annual <strong>Cultural</strong> Report to <strong>Council</strong>; and<br />

3. The third meeting will be shortly afterwards to <strong>final</strong>ise this draft.<br />

Individuals will not be appointed as representatives of any organisation, but in their own<br />

right. The following criteria should be applied to selection/invitation of members with<br />

experience working with people and/or background in the following categories:<br />

1. Aboriginal heritage, arts and culture,<br />

2. youth<br />

3. seniors<br />

4. disability<br />

5. creative industries<br />

6. performing arts<br />

7. visual arts<br />

8. management of volunteers<br />

9. migrant or diverse cultural experience<br />

10. festival management<br />

11. writing, literature, social media<br />

12. history, museums, libraries<br />

Notes on the scope of the group:<br />

1. The Reference Group does not have a management role in any facility or supervisory<br />

role for any employee(s).<br />
