n In 2012, Laura played in 18 tournaments and posted<br />

4 top-10 finishes including a 2nd place at the UniCredit<br />

<strong>Ladies</strong> German Open presented by Audi, where she lost<br />

the play-off against Anne-Lise Caudal, and a tie for 2nd<br />

at the UNIQA <strong>Ladies</strong> Golf Open presented by Raiffeisen<br />

and 3rd place at the <strong>Ladies</strong> Irish Open. She ended the<br />

season ranked 9th on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit<br />

and 14th on the Solheim Cup point list. She also made<br />

her debut on the Legends <strong>Tour</strong> in America - the tour for<br />

LPGA <strong>Tour</strong> members age 45 and over - and won the<br />

ISPS Legends <strong>Tour</strong> Open<br />

n In 2011, Laura played in18 tournaments on the <strong>LET</strong><br />

and her best finish of the season was a tie for 7th at the<br />

Pegasus New Zealand Women’s Open hosted by<br />

Christchurch. Laura was a member of the victorious<br />

<strong>European</strong> Solheim Cup Team at Killeen Castle in Ireland<br />

and remained the only player from either team to have<br />

played in every Solheim Cup. With victory in the second<br />

day fourballs, she reached the 24½ points needed to<br />

overtake Annika Sorenstam as the all-time points record<br />

holder and having halved her singles match against Juli<br />

Inkster, she now holds the record with 25 points.<br />

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS<br />

1985 Rookie of the Year and Order of Merit winner.<br />

Victory in Belgian Open. Retained Order of Merit in 1986<br />

after four victories including British Women’s Open. Also<br />

won Greater Manchester <strong>Tour</strong>nament at Haigh Hall with<br />

20-under-par winning score to equal world record set by<br />

Nancy Lopez. Equalled same score in 1994 Alpine<br />

Australian Masters. Won 1987 US Women’s Open. For<br />

six memorable days Laura was holder of both the US and<br />

British Open titles. Won three <strong>European</strong> tournaments in<br />

1988, two LPGA events and one in Japan. Equalled her<br />

own record low score with round of 63 when winning<br />

1990 AGF Biarritz Open. Equalled LPGA record low score<br />

with round of 62 in 1991 Rail Charity Golf Classic. Won<br />

three points out of three in Europe’s Solheim Cup victory<br />

over the United States at Dalmahoy in 1992. Represented<br />

England in Sunrise Cup World Team Championship,<br />

Taiwan, 1992. Won 1992 Order of Merit for record third<br />

time. Elected honorary member WPGET (1993) for<br />

services to <strong>Tour</strong>. Established new world record with<br />

25-under-par 267 in 1995 Guardian Holidays Irish Open<br />

at St Margaret’s. Winning margin of 16 strokes new <strong>Tour</strong><br />

record. Total of 199 after three rounds set new <strong>Tour</strong><br />

record for 54 holes. Won 1995 Wilkinson Sword English<br />

Open for <strong>Tour</strong> record 22nd victory. 1994 & 1996 ranked<br />

number one on the PING Leaderboard. Won the 1994<br />

LPGA money list.<br />

Victory in the 1994 McDonald’s LPGA Championship<br />

gave her a second major title. Won Association of Golf<br />

Writers’ Trophy 1994. 1994 and 1996 won Golf Writers’<br />

Association of America LPGA Player of the Year Award.<br />

Was ranked number one on the PING leader board in<br />

1996. Won Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year<br />

award and Golf Writers Association of America LPGA<br />

Player of the Year Award in 1996. In 1994 was first golfer,<br />

man or woman, to win on five different <strong>Tour</strong>s in one<br />

calendar year. In 1999 became the first player to win<br />

£1 million on the <strong>LET</strong>. Also finished top of the Order of<br />

Merit for a record fifth time. 2000 partnered Trish Johnson<br />

to second place behind Sweden in the inaugural TSN<br />

<strong>Ladies</strong> World Cup Golf, where she finished with the<br />

lowest individual aggregate. Represented the victorious<br />

<strong>European</strong> team for the sixth consecutive time in The<br />

Solheim Cup 2000 at Loch Lomond. Won twice on the<br />

2000 LPGA <strong>Tour</strong>. Recognised during the LPGA's 50th<br />

Anniversary in 2000 as one of the LPGA's top 50 players.<br />

Won in Europe for the first time in two years when she<br />

beat Scotland’s Janice Moodie by 5&4 in the inaugural<br />

WPGA International Matchplay at Gleneagles Monarch’s<br />

course. Won once on the LPGA <strong>Tour</strong> at the Rochester<br />

International and finished her season with a win in Japan.<br />

Won P4 Norwegian Masters in a playoff with Spain’s Ana<br />

Larraneta, making it at least one win in each season of<br />

her career. Won two points in The Solheim Cup and<br />

admitted to playing the best shot of her life, a driver from<br />

a hanging lie in the rough from 287 yards to ten feet!<br />

Set new record of 16 points won in The Solheim Cup,<br />

surpassing her previous record she shared with the<br />

USA’s Dottie Pepper. Won 2003 ANZ Masters and<br />

helped Europe to an historic victory in The Solheim Cup<br />

at Barsebäck in Sweden. Represented England in the<br />

2005 Women’s World Cup of Golf with Karen Stupples.<br />

Played in her ninth Solheim Cup at Crooked Stick GC,<br />

49 <strong>Ladies</strong> <strong>European</strong> <strong>Tour</strong> <strong>2013</strong>
