Maintenance Procedures<br />

Centrifugal Bypass Oil Filter<br />

Installation<br />

1. Lightly lubricate the O-ring (1) with<br />

engine oil.<br />

2. Fit the new O-ring (1) onto the cap<br />

(2).<br />

3. Mount the centrifugal filter (3) with<br />

its top side in the bearing of the<br />

screw cap (2).<br />

4. Check to ensure the centrifugal<br />

filter (3) can rotate freely.<br />

5. Position the screw cap carefully<br />

onto the oil module.<br />

6. Tighten the screw cap by hand<br />

until it reaches the end position.<br />

7. Tighten the screw cap to 354 lb-in<br />

(40 Nm). Use a hexagonal socket<br />

to avoid damaging the oil filter cap.<br />

Full-flow Oil Filter Removal<br />

1. Unscrew the cap a few turns<br />

and drain the filter housing. Use<br />

a hexagonal socket to avoid<br />

damaging the oil filter cap.<br />

2. Remove the cap, with the oil filter<br />

cartridge, from the filter housing.<br />

Then remove the oil filter cartridge<br />

from the screw cap.<br />

3. Remove the O-ring from the screw<br />

cap.<br />

4. Remove the centrifugal filter.<br />
