(2007) prescribes 126 to 144 credits for the four-year BBA,<br />
including a six-credit dissertation or research project, plus a<br />
m<strong>and</strong>atory six- to eight-week business internship.<br />
The structure <strong>and</strong> length of master’s degrees in<br />
management, such as the Master of Business<br />
Administration (MBA), depends on the educational<br />
qualifications of the incoming students. Figure 6 shows<br />
the possible paths of business <strong>and</strong> management education<br />
from two-year bachelor’s (pass) degree to PhD levels.<br />

It is considered equivalent to a traditional MEd (described<br />
below) <strong>and</strong> entitles an individual to teach at all levels of<br />
school education (Grades 1 to 12).<br />
The Master of <strong>Education</strong> (MEd) requires one year of<br />
full-time study following completion of a BEd. The MA<br />
in <strong>Education</strong> is a two-year program, with entry based on<br />
possession of a first bachelor’s degree (for example, BA,<br />
BCom or BSc). Both the MEd <strong>and</strong> the MA in <strong>Education</strong><br />
entitle an individual to teach at the higher secondary level<br />
(Grades 11 <strong>and</strong> 12). The holder of an MA in <strong>Education</strong> is<br />
also eligible to be a lecturer at a university or college.<br />

<strong>Education</strong><br />
The traditional Bachelor of <strong>Education</strong> (BEd) can be earned as<br />
a one-year postgraduate bachelor’s degree, with entry based on<br />
possession of a first bachelor’s degree (for example, BA, BCom<br />
or BSc). It may also be earned as a three-year degree, with entry<br />
based on possession of the HSC or equivalent. A BEd holder<br />
may teach at the secondary level (Grades 9 <strong>and</strong> 10). A three-year<br />
program that specializes in training science teachers may also be<br />
called a Bachelor of Science in <strong>Education</strong> (BSc Ed or BS Ed).<br />
In line with the transition of undergraduate education to<br />
North American-style four-year bachelor’s degrees, a new<br />
four-year Bachelor of <strong>Education</strong> (BEd) has been launched.<br />
The MPhil in <strong>Education</strong> is a two-year program involving<br />
both coursework <strong>and</strong> research. Entry is based on possession<br />
of an MEd or MA in <strong>Education</strong>. The new two-year MEd,<br />
with entry based on possession of the four-year BEd, is<br />
considered equivalent to a traditional MPhil in <strong>Education</strong>.<br />

Engineering <strong>and</strong> Technology<br />
The undergraduate degree in engineering, called the<br />
Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science in<br />
Engineering (BSc Engg), involves four years of full-time<br />
study, with entry based on possession of the HSC or<br />
Intermediate Certificate in the relevant course group (for<br />
