Issuing Bodies<br />

The Secondary School Certificate <strong>and</strong> Higher Secondary<br />

Certificate are issued by the 26 external examination<br />

bodies, who are all members of the Inter Board Committee<br />

of Chairmen (IBCC). These include:<br />

• the Federal Board of Intermediate <strong>and</strong> Secondary<br />

<strong>Education</strong><br />

• provincial Boards of Intermediate <strong>and</strong> Secondary<br />

<strong>Education</strong> (BISE)<br />

• boards of Technical <strong>Education</strong><br />

• Armed Forces Board<br />

The Inter Board Committee of Chairmen website provides<br />

an updated list of its members.<br />

Students must pass external examinations on completion of<br />

secondary school (Grade 10) to receive the Secondary School<br />

Certificate or Matriculation Certificate <strong>and</strong> on completion<br />

of higher secondary school (Grade 12) to receive the Higher<br />

Secondary Certificate or Intermediate Certificate.
