the same spot, watching her and admiring her. She was<br />

awakened from the revere by her maid who came near her and<br />

said, “Mother! Sita has gone in. It is best we now return to our<br />

residence.” Suddenly, Sunayana turned back, wiping the stream<br />

of tears from her eyes. Her unwilling steps took her to the<br />

cottage allotted to her. (RKRV Part I p.465-467)<br />

Emperor Janaka and the Queen take leave:<br />

Sita, Rama and Lakshmana stood under a spreading tree, until<br />

the last of them left. Meanwhile, Emperor Janaka also prepared<br />

to leave, at the head of his party, for Mithila. Rama and<br />

Lakshmana prostrated before their father-in-law and mother-inlaw.<br />

Sita fell at the feet of her parents. The parents embraced her<br />
