「 舞 蹈 是 用 身 體 來 表 達 自 己 的 思 想 。 眼 睛 、 手 、 頭 , 同 樣 一 個 動 作 ,
每 個 人 做 的 時 候 , 心 裏 想 表 達 的 意 思 都 不 一 樣 , 那 做 出 來 的 感 覺
就 不 一 樣 , 都 會 有 自 己 的 特 點 。」

她 就 開 始 讓 我 們 學 一 些 樂 器 , 像 是 笛 子 、 古 箏 、 琵
琶 , 都 是 中 國 古 代 的 樂 器 。」 學 了 一 段 時 間 之 後 ,
美 淨 在 樂 器 演 奏 方 面 不 如 姊 姊 表 現 好 。 媽 媽 見 狀 ,
就 又 試 著 送 她 去 學 舞 蹈 , 安 靜 的 美 淨 平 生 第 一 次 不
得 不 「 動 了 起 來 」。
堅 持 不 懈
美 淨 開 始 對 舞 蹈 並 沒 有 甚 麼 興 趣 , 完 全 是 被 媽
媽 逼 著 去 上 舞 蹈 課 。 後 來 , 隨 著 不 斷 學 習 , 她 發 現
原 來 舞 蹈 也 不 像 看 似 那 麼 簡 單 , 是 可 以 深 入 學 習 下 去
的 。 這 時 , 美 淨 不 再 需 要 媽 媽 的 催 促 , 自 己 很 主 動 地
去 上 舞 蹈 課 。「 舞 蹈 是 用 身 體 來 表 達 自 己 的 思 想 。 眼
睛 、 手 、 頭 , 同 樣 一 個 動 作 , 每 個 人 做 的 時 候 , 心 裏
想 表 達 的 意 思 都 不 一 樣 , 那 做 出 來 的 感 覺 就 不 一 樣 ,
都 會 有 自 己 的 特 點 。」 可 能 因 為 平 日 裏 不 善 言 辭 , 美
淨 把 舞 蹈 當 做 了 表 達 自 己 內 心 世 界 的 方 式 , 她 和 舞 蹈
的 連 繫 也 越 來 越 緊 密 。
又 學 了 幾 年 的 舞 蹈 之 後 , 美 淨 的 姊 姊 考 入 了 位
於 紐 約 的 「 神 韻 藝 術 團 」, 成 為 伴 奏 樂 團 的 成 員 。
「 神 韻 藝 術 團 」 成 立 近 十 年 來 一 直 致 力 於 將 正 統 的
中 華 五 千 年 神 傳 文 化 弘 揚 給 世 界 各 地 的 觀 眾 , 其 表
演 以 中 國 古 典 舞 為 主 。 媽 媽 想 到 美 淨 喜 歡 跳 舞 , 就
希 望 她 能 去 考 教 授 正 統 中 國 古 典 舞 的 紐 約 「 飛 天 藝
術 學 院 」, 將 來 可 以 進 入 「 神 韻 藝 術 團 」 當 一 位 專
業 的 舞 蹈 演 員 。
「 我 去 嘗 試 了 , 可 是 , 我 之 前 學 的 是 基 礎 的 芭
蕾 , 和 中 國 古 典 舞 很 不 同 。 所 以 , 一 連 考 了 兩 次 都
沒 考 上 。 當 時 特 別 沮 喪 , 我 本 來 就 不 是 自 信 的 人 ,
每 次 落 選 都 會 想 : 算 了 , 就 放 棄 吧 ! 但 我 是 真 心 喜
歡 舞 蹈 的 , 我 很 想 去 學 中 國 古 典 舞 。 媽 媽 就 又 為 我
找 了 新 的 老 師 , 做 了 一 些 有 針 對 性 的 訓 練 。 第 三 次
報 考 的 時 候 , 終 於 被 錄 取 了 。」
來 到 「 飛 天 藝 術 學 院 」 後 , 美 淨 開 始 了 完 全 不
同 以 往 的 專 業 舞 蹈 訓 練 。 因 為 自 幼 有 媽 媽 的 嚴 格 要
求 , 所 以 , 美 淨 比 一 般 孩 子 更 能 吃 苦 , 體 能 和 軟 度
的 訓 練 她 都 咬 牙 堅 持 了 下 來 。 但 缺 少 自 信 的 問 題 還

culture requirements” to make sure that Tu and her sister
grew up with the temperate nature of Asian girls.
Tu’s strict upbringing caused her to be reserved rather
than outgoing. She was shy at school, awkward in social
activities, and “never expresses her own opinions strongly,”
she says. But underneath that meekness smoulders a
strength and tenacity to endure, to remain steadfast, and
surpass her aspirations.
“My mother loves art and has studied dance and music.
When we were growing up, she encouraged my sister and
me to learn the ancient Chinese musical instruments —
dizi (Chinese flute) and Guzheng (zither).”
Finding her way
Tu’s life has been peppered with obstacles. Instead of
deterring her, however, these stumbling blocks have
made her more determined to achieve her goals. When
she realized her forte didn’t lie in creating captivating
music with traditional Chinese instruments, she
turned to ballet. When she faltered and fell, she got up
and kept going.
The resolute dancer said she auditioned three times
before finally gaining acceptance to the prestigious Fei
Tian Academy of the Arts. After she failed twice, she felt
depressed and disappointed.
But she refused to accept defeat or give up. She really
wanted to learn Chinese classical dance. So, “mother
found me a new dance teacher for specific training and I
finally succeeded on my third attempt.”
It was 2008 when Tu was accepted and finally reunited
with her older sister who was already in the Shen
Yun Orchestra. Within three months of arriving at the
Academy, she was selected to join Shen Yun Performing
Arts.
