However, abstinence as a means of avoiding the <strong>AIDS</strong> virus is less commonly acknowledged.<br />

One in two women <strong>and</strong> one in three men did not acknowledge abstinence as a means of reducing the<br />

chances of contracting the <strong>AIDS</strong> virus. Those who have never attended school were the least likely to<br />

acknowledge abstinence as a means of avoiding <strong>AIDS</strong>; nearly 3 out of 4 women <strong>and</strong> men who have never<br />

attended school did not acknowledge abstinence as a means of reducing the chances of contracting the<br />

<strong>AIDS</strong> virus.<br />
