The VPAIS asked women who had ever lost a husband whether they had any property taken away
from them after the death of their husband. Table 8.6 shows that 2 percent of women age 15-49 have been
widowed, and of these, 9 percent were dispossessed of property. Because the number of widowed women
is so small, it is not possible to explain with confidence any differentials by socio-demographic
characteristics.
