APPENDIX D: FAMILY CENTERED PRACTICE PRINCIPLES 7. Early identification and intervention for children, youth and families in need of support and intervention is promoted by the system of care in order to enhance the likelihood of positive outcomes. 8. Children, youth and their families are ensured smooth transitions to programs and services in the adult service system as necessary as the youth reaches maturity. 9. The rights of children, youth and their families are protected and effective advocacy efforts for children, youth and their families are promoted. 10. Children, youth and their families receive services without regard to race, religion, national origin, sex, physical disability, or other characteristics and services are sensitive and responsive to cultural differences and special needs.
