In Fiscal <strong>Year</strong> 20<strong>12</strong>, the regulated utilities and transportation carriers paid<br />
$17,809,902 in public utility fees and $1,344,118 motor carrier fees, respectively. The<br />
total revenues of the <strong>Commission</strong>’s Special Fund were $19,270,946.<br />
In Fiscal <strong>Year</strong> 20<strong>12</strong>, the <strong>Commission</strong> received an appropriation of $11,049,709<br />
for personnel services and other current expenses. Allotments for the <strong>Commission</strong>’s<br />
personnel services expenses and other current expenses were $4,617,052, and<br />
$6,432,357, respectively. The <strong>Commission</strong>’s other current expenses allotment included<br />
$3,003,599 that was transferred to the Consumer Advocate to cover its operating<br />
expenses and $951,573 that was transferred to DAGS Central Services Division<br />
pursuant to Section 36-37, HRS.<br />
Pursuant to HRS § 269-33, any amount over $1,000,000 remaining in the<br />
Special Fund at the end of each fiscal year is transferred to the State’s general fund. In<br />
Fiscal <strong>Year</strong> 20<strong>12</strong>, an excess balance of $10,175,778 from the Special Fund was<br />
transferred to the general fund. This excess balance amount includes the balance of<br />
the moneys appropriated through Act 164, SLH <strong>2011</strong> (<strong>2011</strong> Appropriations Act).
