JUSTICE OFFICER PHYSICAL<br />
FITNESS TRAINING: (On<br />
Demand) This is a required<br />
physical training course for<br />
Basic Recruit Corrections. This<br />
is a 40-hour course for the CMS<br />
Criminal Justice Program and<br />
consists of lectures on nutrition,<br />
stress management, physical<br />
tness and individual physical<br />
assessments including, but<br />
not limited to vertical jumps,<br />
one-minute sit-ups, 300-meter<br />
runs, standard push-ups (may<br />
be modi ed for female basic<br />
recruits), and 1.5 mile runs/<br />
walks.<br />
CJK 0422. DART-FIRING<br />
STUN GUNS FOR LAW<br />
ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS:<br />
This course will introduce the<br />
student to the basics of the stun<br />
gun as well as the dart- ring<br />
stun gun and provide some<br />
fundamental knowledge on this<br />
emerging tool in criminal justice.<br />
CJK 0051. CMS CRIMINAL<br />
JUSTICE DEFENSIVE<br />
TACTICS: This course includes<br />
lecture and practical application<br />
of defensive tactics for criminal<br />
justice of cers as prescribed by<br />
the Criminal Justice Standards<br />
and Training Commission. The<br />
defensive tactics curriculum<br />
offers criminal justice basic<br />
recruits effective, tactically<br />
sound, and legally defensible<br />
training in defensive tactics<br />
and control techniques. This<br />
course teaches recruits to<br />
select and properly execute<br />
techniques that are reasonable<br />
and necessary given the<br />
circumstances and factors of a<br />
situation.<br />
DRAFTING<br />
BCV 0055C. BUILDING<br />
CODES & STANDARDS: This<br />
course teaches the importance<br />
of designing in accordance with<br />
national standards and building<br />
codes. Students will be expected<br />
to apply this knowledge in all<br />
drawings performed.<br />
SLS 0403C. EMPLOYABILITY<br />
SKILLS: This course provides<br />
the student with the information<br />
necessary for entry into the<br />
workforce. How to conduct a<br />
job search, prepare a resume’<br />
and portfolio, conducting an<br />
interview, and possibilities of<br />
entrepreneurship.<br />
TDR 0103C. INTRODUCTION<br />
TO ENGINEERING<br />
DRAFTING/DESIGN: A survey<br />
of principles and practices<br />
involved in making and reading<br />
engineering drawings. Skills<br />
to master include but are<br />
not limited to: orthographic<br />
projection, auxiliary & multi<br />
view drawings, sectional views,<br />
and basic dimensioning.<br />
TDR 0300C. BASIC<br />
COMPUTER AIDED<br />
DRAFTING: An overview of<br />
various technical and nontechnical<br />
disciplines students<br />
may encounter upon entry into<br />
elds of drafting and design<br />
followed by an introduction to<br />
computer aided drafting/design<br />
using engineering drawings<br />
with emphasis on computer<br />
fundamental skills.<br />
TDR 0320C. IDENTIFYING<br />
GEOMETRY & RELATED<br />
MATH: This course<br />
concentrates on skills needed<br />
to construct various common<br />
geometric patterns and students<br />
will then apply these learned<br />
skills using CADD software in<br />
order to complete each problem<br />
