Academic Honors<br />
President’s Honor Roll<br />
The President’s Honor Roll recognizes academic achievement at the completion of each semester.<br />
Inclusion on the list is awarded to all full-time students who, during that term, have earned a grade point<br />
average of 3.80 to 4.00 on course work of at least 12 hours during the fall and spring terms and 12 total<br />
college credit hours during Summer Terms A, B and C combined.<br />
Dean’s Honor Roll<br />
The Dean’s Honor Roll recognizes outstanding academic achievement at the completion of each semester.<br />
Inclusion on the list is awarded to all full-time students who, during that term, have earned a grade point<br />
average of 3.50 to 3.79 on course work of at least 12 hours during the fall and spring terms and 12 total<br />
college credit hours during Summer Terms A, B, and C combined.<br />
Graduation Honors<br />
To qualify for commencement honors, a minimum of thirty-three (33) semester hours toward the<br />
Associate Degree must have been completed at NFCC. Students who complete the program in the<br />
Occupational and Adult Division of the <strong>College</strong> and who maintain an “A” average shall be eligible for<br />
commencement honors.<br />
Students awarded the Associate Degree who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or<br />
better shall be eligible for commencement honors. Recommendations for commencement honors will be<br />
made in the following categories:<br />
(a) An average of 3.30 to 3.49 shall be graduated cum laude.<br />
(b) An average of 3.50 to 3.74 shall be graduated magna cum laude.<br />
(c) An average of 3.75 to 4.00 shall be graduated summa cum laude.<br />
Academic Probation<br />
A student is placed on academic probation at the end of any term that his/her cumulative grade point<br />
average is less than a “C” (2.0), once seven college credit hours have been attempted.<br />
Continued probation occurs when the student earns a minimum 2.0 term grade point average and the<br />
cumulative GPA remains below 2.0. The student is returned to good standing when the cumulative GPA is<br />
2.0 or higher.<br />
The student placed on academic probation or a student on continued probation is restricted to enrolling<br />
in no more than thirteen semester hours fall or spring term and no more than six semester hours summer<br />
A or B term. It is recommended that the student meet with an academic advisor to develop success<br />
strategies.<br />
Academic Suspension<br />
A student on academic probation is placed on academic suspension when the term grade point average<br />
and the cumulative grade point average fall below 2.0. The following conditions apply:<br />
On the initial suspension, the student has two options:<br />
1. The student must “sit out” one semester. After the one semester suspension, a student may be<br />
readmitted. The student is restricted to enrolling in no more than twelve hours fall or spring term<br />
and no more than six semester hours summer A or B term. It is recommended that the student meet<br />
with an academic advisor to develop success strategies.<br />
