utilize the nursing process as<br />

the framework for providing<br />

care speci c to the pediatric<br />

patient. The patient maybe<br />

cared for in the community, out<br />

patient setting, or in the acute<br />

care setting. While working<br />

in the role of provider and<br />

manager of care the student<br />

must continue to demonstrate<br />

safe performance of all nursing<br />

skills to successfully complete<br />

adults experiencing threats<br />

to functional health patterns.<br />

Practice issues continue to focus<br />

on legal ethical issues related<br />

to acute/chronic illness and<br />

PROCESS III CLINICAL<br />

EXPERIENCE: Three Credits,<br />

Twelve Hours. (Spring) While<br />

working in the role of provider<br />

and manager of care, students<br />

will continue to apply knowledge<br />

and skills learned in previous<br />

nursing courses in providing<br />

nursing care for hospitalized<br />

adults whose health problems<br />

are more complex and/or<br />

chronic. Clinical sites will also<br />

include clinics, schools, and<br />

other community settings.<br />

Students must maintain all<br />

previously learned nursing skills<br />

and must perform safely all<br />

advanced nursing skills in order<br />

to successfully complete this<br />

NUR 2241. NURSING<br />

PROCESS IV: Six Credits,<br />

Six Hours. (Fall) This course<br />

compliments previous nursing<br />

process courses, building on<br />

competencies regarding the role<br />

of the associate degree nurse<br />

in providing direct holistic care<br />

to the pediatric child bearing<br />

family, students will also have<br />

the opportunity to integrate<br />

knowledge and principles of the<br />

biophysical and psychosocial<br />

sciences to solve life threatening<br />

problems that affect a limited<br />

number of critically ill patients.<br />

Self evaluation is part of the<br />

student socialization process<br />

as they begin to make the<br />

transition from student to<br />

graduate. Prerequisites:<br />

PROCESS IV CLINICAL<br />

EXPERIENCE: Three Credits,<br />

Twelve Hours. (Fall) Students<br />

will apply knowledge and<br />

principles of the biophysical<br />

and psychosocial sciences to<br />

assess, plan, implement and<br />

evaluate holistic nursing care<br />

of all age groups including<br />

members of the childbearing<br />

family. The student may work<br />

with a preceptor in providing/<br />

assisting with care of the<br />

critically ill. Students will also<br />

expand on management of care<br />

skills (delegation and in career<br />

development) preparation for<br />

assuming their role as graduate<br />

nurse. Practice issues continue<br />

to focus on legal ethical issues<br />

related to acute/chronic illness<br />

NURSING - PRACTICAL<br />

HSC 0003. HEALTH CARE<br />

CORE: 90 Clock Hours.<br />

(Fall) This course is basic<br />

knowledge necessary for any<br />

health occupations career.<br />

The course covers the rst<br />

eleven competencies required<br />

by the <strong>Florida</strong> Department of<br />

Education as Post Secondary<br />

performance standards. An<br />

overview of the health care<br />

team, legal and ethical aspects<br />

of the health care professional,<br />

communication and relationships<br />

with the health care team,<br />

legal and ethical aspects of the<br />

health care, safety, infection<br />

control measures, basic rst aid,<br />

employability skills, and basic<br />

math concepts. Prerequisite:<br />

acceptance into Practical<br />

Nursing program.<br />

HCP 0121C. ARTICULATED<br />

NURSING ASSISTANT<br />

75 Clock Hours. This course<br />

provides the student with<br />

knowledge and skills necessary<br />

to safely care for patients<br />
