Vocational Rehabilitation Assistance Program<br />
The Of ce of Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Education, State of <strong>Florida</strong>, provides limited<br />
assistance to persons who have a disability that causes a vocational handicap. The applicant must be<br />
sixteen years old or over, must have a major disability, must have a good scholastic record, and must take<br />
courses that will prepare him/her for some vocation at which he/she can earn a living. If interested in<br />
learning more about Vocational Rehabilitation, please contact the Of ce of Student Disability Services or<br />
visit www.rehabworks.org or call toll free at 1-800-451-4327.<br />
WIA (Workforce Investment Act)<br />
WIA is a Federal program designed to provide nancial assistance to those who need it to attend<br />
postsecondary vocational programs. Eligibility for WIA is determined by one of the following criteria: (1)<br />
economically disadvantaged, (2) disabled, or (3) food stamp or AFDC recipient. Additional information<br />
and application forms are available at the One-Stop Service Center in your area.<br />
Fresh Start, Displaced Homemaker Program<br />
This program is designed to assist displaced homemakers, aged 35 or above, to obtain marketable skills<br />
and jobs through academic and vocational training programs. Some of the services available through<br />
this program are books, tuition, vocational, assessment, career counseling, employability skills training,<br />
resumé assistance and job placement assistance. Speci c statutory requirements must be met for<br />
eligibility. Additional information is available by calling (850) 973-1664.<br />
Work-Study<br />
Federal <strong>College</strong> Work-Study Program (FCWSP)<br />
This is a federally funded employment program designed to provide a student the opportunity to pay<br />
part of his/her educational expenses by working at a part-time job. Students who qualify may work up<br />
to fteen (15) hours per week, pending availability of funds. Applicants must submit an Application for<br />
Federal Student Aid. Additional information about the work program is available in the NFCC Financial Aid<br />
Of ce.<br />
TUITION PAYMENT PLAN<br />
Eligible students may set up a tuition payment plan, making designated payments during the semester,<br />
instead of paying all tuition fees in advance.<br />
• Students will be required to make payments during the semester, with all fees to be paid in full prior<br />
to the designated nal date to withdraw without penalty<br />
• Students must sign a note of obligation, indicating the payment schedule and documenting their<br />
responsibility to pay all fees<br />
• Students will be informed in writing on the note that unless fees are paid in full prior to the<br />
designated nal date to withdraw without penalty, they will be withdrawn from all courses with no<br />
refunds given.<br />
• Students will be required to make a down payment and to pay a processing fee: Students paying<br />
½ down will be charged a $20 processing fee; Students paying ¼ down will be charged a $35<br />
processing fee. The processing fee will be due on the date the agreement is signed.<br />
• Students will be required to set up payments which correspond with their income source(s).<br />
• Invoices will be sent only twice during each semester. One invoice will be sent after the close of the<br />
drop-add period. A nal invoice will be sent two weeks prior to the nal date to withdraw without<br />
penalty, reminding the students that they will not receive credit for courses if fees are not paid in full<br />
within two weeks from the invoice date.<br />
• Students who do not complete this payment process in a timely manner will not be allowed to<br />
participate in the payment plan process a second term and will not be eligible for scholarships<br />
through NFCC or the NFCC Foundation, Inc.<br />
