Pell Grant (Disbursement Policy)<br />

NFCC will verify a student course load following the last day to register and/or drop courses for credit.<br />

At this time the student load will determine whether he/she will receive a full Pell Grant (12 or more<br />

semester hours), a 3/4 Pell Grant (9-11 semester hours), a 1/2 Pell grant (6-8 semester hours) or less<br />

than 1/2 time award. <strong>College</strong> prep courses (noncredit) required by the <strong>College</strong> will be counted as four<br />

semester hours each in the award of Pell Grant funds. Pell funds will be disbursed after the enrollment<br />

status and attendance of each recipient has been veri ed.<br />

“ALERT”<br />

Academic Progress for each student will be calculated once each term in compliance with the established<br />

academic progress policy of NFCC. Students with extenuating circumstances may make appeals.<br />

GRANTS<br />

Federal Pell Grant (Basic Educational Opportunity Grant)<br />

The PELL Grant Program is a Federal aid program designed to provide nancial assistance to eligible<br />

students needing assistance to attend post-high school educational institutions. PELL Grants are intended<br />

to be the “ oor” of a nancial aid package and may be combined with other forms of aid in order to meet<br />

the full costs of education. The amount of the PELL Grant is determined on the basis of the student’s and<br />

his/her family’s resources. Additional information and application forms are available from NFCC and in<br />

the Counselor’s Of ces of area high schools.<br />

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (SEOG)<br />

The SEOG is a Federal program of grants through which the student receives funds based on exceptional<br />

nancial need and evidence of academic or creative promise. Applicants must submit the Application for<br />

Federal Student Aid.<br />

<strong>Florida</strong> Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)<br />

The Of ce of Student Financial, Tallahassee, <strong>Florida</strong>, administers a program of student assistance, which<br />

provides grants to quali ed students who have exceptional nancial need and attend accredited colleges,<br />

universities, and community colleges. Students enrolled as a degree seeking student in a credit program<br />

at an eligible institution in <strong>Florida</strong>, who have been legal residents of <strong>Florida</strong> for twelve consecutive months<br />

prior to the beginning of the academic year, are eligible for these grants. Eligibility is determined by ling<br />
