Give an Hour is a nationwide nonprofit organization that connects U.S.<br />
military personnel and loved ones affected by the current conflicts in Iraq and<br />
Afghanistan with a range of free mental health services in their communities.<br />

NATIONAL VETERAN FOUNDATION<br />
The National <strong>Veteran</strong> Foundation (NVF) is staffed by a team of veterans (from<br />
Vietnam, the Cold War, Iraq, and Afghanistan) who are specially trained in the<br />
delivery of crisis information and referral services, as well as a team of licensed<br />
volunteer counselors to whom all crisis calls are routed, more than 350,000<br />
veterans in need of medical treatment, substance abuse or post-traumatic stress<br />
disorder (PTSD) counseling, VA benefits advocacy, food, shelter, employment<br />
training, legal aid, or suicide intervention, have now been served by this one-of-akind<br />
resource. Also, as a recognized leader within the community of organizations<br />
that specialize in providing human service programs to veterans and their families,<br />
NVF frequently plays a key role as advisor, partner, and collaborator. For more<br />

SOLDIER’S PROJECT<br />
The Soldier’s Project is a statewide network of licensed mental health<br />
professionals who offer free psychological treatment to military service<br />
members (active duty, National Guard, Reserves and veterans) who have served<br />
or who expect to serve in the conflicts in Iraq or Afghanistan. To find a therapist<br />

SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES<br />
Swords to Plowshares is a community-based, not-for-profit veteran service<br />
organization that provides wrap-around care to more than 2,000 veterans in the<br />
San Francisco Bay Area each year. The organization is committed to helping<br />
veterans break through the cultural, educational, psychological and economic<br />
barriers they often face in their transition to the civilian world. For more<br />
