11. Removing the Display interface Board.<br />

You must first remove the CPU Module before removing the Display Interface<br />

Board.<br />

A) Unscrew the four standoffs that had supported the CPU board before it was<br />

removed.<br />

B) Carefully pull the Display Interface Board evenly away from the Base Board,<br />

being careful not to stress any ribbon cables still connected to it.<br />

C) Unplug any ribbon cables from the Display Interface Board, which now can be<br />

removed completely. Refer to step (8.C)to disconnect the 33-conductor ribbon<br />

cable to J103.<br />

12. Removing the Base Board.<br />

You must have completed steps 9, 10, and 11 first.<br />

A) Make sure that AC power is disconnected from the <strong>8685</strong>.<br />

B) Remove the three power ribbon cables from the power supply and dress them<br />

away from the Base Board.<br />

C) Using a 3/16-inch nut driver, remove the two jackscrews and lock washers<br />

holding the DB25 connector to the rear panel.<br />

D) Remove the four Phillips screws and four standoffs holding the Base Board to<br />

the bottom of the chassis.<br />

E) Verify that all connectors have been removed.<br />

F) Remove the Base Board.<br />

13. Removing the Power Supply assembly [needs revision].<br />

To remove the power supply it is necessary to remove the <strong>8685</strong> from the rack and<br />

to remove the top cover. It is most convenient to remove the Power Supply Assembly<br />

if the Base Board, RS-232 Board, CPU Module, and Display Interface Module<br />

have been removed.<br />

A) Be sure that the AC line cord is disconnected from the power supply.<br />

B) Unplug the three ribbon cables from the power supply.<br />

C) Unplug the two cable assemblies from the power transformer by squeezing<br />

the locking tab and removing the connector.<br />

D) Remove the nut securing the green ground wire to the chassis.<br />

E) Remove the two Phillips screws securing the mains input connector to the rear<br />

of the chassis<br />

F) Remove the three Phillips screws at the bottom edge of the power supply<br />

G) Remove the four Phillips screws holding the power supply assembly to the top<br />

apron of the chassis.
